When warmly greeted at the door, the hostess said we’d have to be on a wait for a table or proceed to the back where the bar was for open seating. The entry way were filled with many happy guests. On the way back, we noticed the restaurant was very clean, nicely lit with beautiful décor with food previews in the cookline window area. To our surprise the bar was spacious and had nice accommodating staff. The back porch was thoughtfully put together for a private party. It was good to see them all brightly, happy and served. Made me think I’d like to host a proper party here as well. The first course we orders the yellow tail seared tuna and miso soup. Both were amazing and delicious! I had never had such a pleasant tasting miso filled with a natural taste, and not too salty as others I’ve tasted. The seared tuna was heavenly but has a little kick to the mouth. I had to ask for a lot of water to wash down the spice. The server was nice enough to leave a carafe of icy water. As the waiter was taking our plates I proceeded to say the tuna was the worst dish ever jokingly. He looked at me in confusion and I had to point out the dish was empty and that I was fully kidding. *sigh Thought it was pretty funny but his reaction was serious. Sheesh. The second course was the nicely presented prawns and pork belly which was a great main dish to share. They added a really nice crunchy chicharron on top of the shelled prawns. I thought they could have taken the 3 prawns heads off for a nicer way to eat. One of the prawns had a little greenish goo on the top which I cleaned off on a napkin. The pork belly meat were thickly sliced and slightly over cooked in my opinion. Also the lack of the very tasty sauce was a bit disappointing. But overall the dish had a nice flavor and filled my hunger. On the side was the Asian greens to compliment the main course and was pretty good as well. Not much flavor either so if there was salt and pepper or soy sauce on the table that would be helpful for future guests. For dessert we ordered a dark chocolate mousse and an additional side of vanilla ice cream. Very very good mixture of composes. The chocolate wafer bit, the jello, fruit purée were nicely put together. Also you should know this dessert is chili spicy as well so the ice cream was a great addition for the cooling effect. All presented well with a mint garnish. Overall I enjoyed the visit and if I had a little advice to give, the staff could brush up on a little faster on service and not hesitate as much to being proactive. But as an Californian I suppose I’m a bit spoiled with quicker service. I shall be back for another meal soon!
