Okay so I don’t even know what to say about this place without sounding like a bitch, my boyfriend says I shouldn’t be so harsh on the restaurant but if am paying $ 70 for just two mains with no drinks I think I am entitled to something better. The thing about The Bay is the shitty confused service you get from the waitresses, yes two of them loved my shoes but it wasn’t enough for me to be happy. We got to the restaurant at 8.30, there were three other tables in the restaurant. We sat and sat and sat until my boyfriend had to go up and ask if we could order, this was after 20 minutes. We didn’t even have any water on our table. After we ordered the food too forever to come out. It was clear it wasn’t just us having issues, the other table had to enquire about their entrees more than once. The mains came and we didn’t have any cutlery, the cutlery finally came and she put it on the table with no napkin. After a while the napkins came and by the time we had already finished out dinner. I wanted some dessert but I wasn’t keen on waiting for more than half an hour for a sweet treat.

Friends of ours invited us to join them for a night of fine dining, starting with a drink at their home, and then taking a short stroll up the road to The Bay Bar & Restaurant. The Bay, as it’s affectionately known, is a suburban secret known to residents of Torbay, Browns Bay and a select group of lucky individuals. The restaurant is not flashy, or too up market, yet it still allows for intimate evenings and social gatherings. What makes this little restaurant on the corner an easy option is their willingness to allow BYO. This is an option that makes dining out a little more affordable, and in these dire financial times, is a good way for restaurants to keep the seats full.
