I am now officially addicted to the Bull &Pig burger. It was one of the juiciest, most perfectly cooked, delicious burgers I think I have ever had. The chips on the side were golden and crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside — and a PERFECT compliment to the Two Staxx sauce I asked for, as an alternative to the«Zombie Hot Sauce» which was advertised as accompanying the burger. That sauce was the glorious cherry on the top of a divine burger. Does that sauce come in a bottle, like the Zombie Hot Sauce? *salivating *

Meat. Meat. Meat. If you like meat come here. We were seated at the bar surrounding the kitchen and it was fun to watch the chefs at work. Expect to wait for a table. It’s worth it though! I had the 400g Bavette Steak. It came with the tastiest mushrooms I have ever had! Great flavours in the steak, would have liked it just a little warmer. Popcorn fish and JFC were nice starters and the date pudding to finish was very nice. Service was fantastic. Even had a yarn to one of the chefs. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.

The service was good, we went there when it was quite busy and were told it would be a 30 minute wait but got a table in a little over ten minutes. Our waitress was very good and took her time to explain absolutely everything! Our burgers were cooked and served quickly. They say they cook them medium rare, if anything mine was a bit over but still tasted great, every other burger was superb.

If you like beer, meat and puns then come here. I had the sloppy Joe special, my friend had the hoisin ribs. The sloppy Joe was sloppy, the ribs weren’t ribs exactly but it was a decent serving for the price. Nice place and good music. Bathroom wallpaper was very punny –lolz

Best Burgers in Wellington! Had read the mixed reviews so thought we would check it out. It’s great! If you are after the nicest burgers in Wellington with great beer then this is a must try. The JFC(Japanese fried chicken) and pop corn fish were delicious while at the bar, then the bull and pig and the special devils advocate burger(Angus/Jalapeño/chilli sauce) were both sensational.

My partner and I went Grill Meats Beer based on a recommendation from our Wellingtonian friends during our last visit. We had the Japanese Fried Chicken, the Hoisin Ribs, the Pulled Pork Bahn-Mi and a side of Mac n’ Cheese which were all delicious(I can still taste the mac n’ cheese). Though, I did think that there needed to be some more filling in the Bahn-Mi or a slimmer baguette. We were able to taste a couple of the beers(on recommendation by our server) before deciding on a jug of craft pale ale to complement our food. We went on a Saturday night around 6.30 and were seated no problem and had really good service and so am surprised to hear about the disappointing reviews below. I’m wondering if it’s new restaurant teething problems(?) and so will only give 3 stars at this time. Although I must mention that the service was so notable that we were compelled to tip, keeping in mind that tipping is still uncommon in NZ. I think if you don’t think of it as classic(American) BBQ but rather as a play on beer and grill your expectations will be more on-point and thus a more enjoyable experience.

Upon arriving in Wellington we were told to try this place out however being a Friday Saturday night the place was crowded! Thus, we tried the restaurant on Sunday evening! I ordered the Rib Eye steak which was $ 35NZ and my wife order the Sunday special, the pulled pork sandwich. Both dinners were unsatisfactory! My wife’s sandwich in addition to coleslaw on top of the meat had mayo spread on both sides of the bun without even stating it came with mayo. Most BBQ places that serve BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches do not add mayo to the sandwich. And my Rib Eye was overcooked. I asked for Medium Rare and they said it can only be medium which I was perplexed! The steak took 25 minutes to cook as the mentioned however, 5 minutes too long as my steak lacked flavor and was completely over done. I do not recommend this place for their food. However, the beer and great atmosphere is nice; but that can be found anywhere in Wellington!

After hearing the team behind Logan Brown had opened another establishment in Wellington, I had to try it during my visit. In short, I’m giving this a mid-range review because of the service, and because the food was only okay. A bustling Saturday evening, and having only opened recently could be the reason for the not so good service, but I would’ve thought a month was enough time to iron out the kinks. Initially told the wait would be 45mins for a table of 6, we ended up waiting nearly 1 hour 45 minutes. Normally, I would’ve left to dine at another establishment, but as I mentioned above, I was very keen to try the food. After checking with the hostess a couple of times(after the initial 45 minute wait), she tried her best to be accommodating by taking our food orders early so they would be ready when we finally sat down. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t worth the wait: Ribs with hoisin-lime sauce fell away from the bone as if they’d been paid good attention to, but they were a little dry. Japanese fried chicken– good salt and pepper taste, with slightly soggy coating. Chicken was nice and tender. Bavette steak– nice flame grill char, cooked very well. Fennel Apple slaw– nice, but a little bland. To summarise, the price of food here is great if you’re looking to order small plates to share, I don’t think the portions of the mains were suited to their higher prices. The food here is decent, but if I had to wait a long time again, I wouldn’t think twice about finding somewhere else to dine. As I said above, my experience could be a one off, which is why I’ve given three stars and not less. In a city with amazing dining options, grill meats beer will need to pick up their game if they are in it for the long haul. i

It’s great that there is a place to get good ribs in town and beer! It was very exciting to come here. The place has a really nice, modern, casual, laid back ambiance. I came here specifically to have ribs, and I was not disappointed. I had the hoisin sauce, which was sticky and salty, and really good. I also had the onion knots on the side which I’ve never had anything quite like it. They’re like curry flavored battered onions. The one thing I wish I had was some hot sauce for those ribs. Would come back here again, and also recommend for others to try.
