Satay Kingdom

For the uninitiated, Oriental Kingdom and Satay Kingdom are basically the exact same food-​wise. You will notice the vibes are totally different with Satay being more takeout oriented (no booze… or tables, really) and Oriental being a full-​service restaurant. They’re owned by the same people.
Now, I feel like this review can be kept short. The food here is GREAT. It’s one of the best places in Wellington price-​vs-​value. It’s perfect for the budget conscious and is conveniently located just off Cuba street. The roti chennai is to die for… it’s really the only thing I ever get because it’s just so good – great curry and perfect, buttery, paper-​thin layers of roti. Mi goreng is also a favorite. Sweet and sour chicken is great. Seafood laksa is very popular.
Satay and Oriental Kingdoms aren’t fancy, but it’s cheap, delicious, and fast! If you’re looking for a white tablecloth experience, you’re going to be horribly disappointed. Otherwise, you’ll walk out satisfied.

Tasty, cheap, and quick.
If you find yourself on Cuba Street hungry and budget-​conscious, this place is the local favourite. It’s not on the main strip, but tucked away in the far end of Left Bank Mall.
Their satay chicken with rice is the first thing we order, but their soups and curries are always being served in the other tables.
Everytime we visit Wellington, this place is always there and always open. Reliability counts a lot when you’re hungry.
