Not bad not bad, not bad indeed. I don’t usually head so far south for a meal, let alone a drink. And why would I? I’m so spoilt for choice in my hood and surrounds that it never occurs to me to go anywhere else. But of course, I came here because some friends said I needed to get out of the house after a solid week of working. Well, I’m glad I did. I didn’t get a chance to explore what the interior looked like but from where we were sitting, it looked super cute and very hip! I thought the service here was pretty great, albeit a little slow but mind you, pouring a decent cocktail takes time so this didn’t bother me in the slightest! But I will obviously now only recommend coming here if you have time to spare but thankfully, it was a gorgeous summer day and what better to sit outside and enjoy a cocktail? Or in my case. three? But I can assure you, all the cocktails made here were amazing! I tried 5 different ones in total that night(they weren’t all mine I swear) and even when we ordered the same ones again, they tasted as good as the first, so you definitely know the barmen and women know what they’re doing here. We started the evening with some snacks, bitterballen(of course), and corn chips and fresh vegies with dip and they were pretty standard. Then to even out the heavy drinking, we ordered burgers that came with a side of frites and, I must say again, not bad. It was just missing a sly little pickle. but that’s only because that’s how I like my burgers! Finally, to round out the meal(and all the cocktails), we ordered one dessert to share. This was the only downer to the entire evening. It was meant to be an incredible donut, smothered in chocolate icing with a delicious ice cream centre. It was everything but delicious and I’ll be honest, I think I’ve had a better donut experience from the local Heijn. But you can’t get them all! Everything else was delight so four out of five? Not bad indeed.

Fancy cocktail bar with snacks, nice gin cocktails and whiskey. Around 10 tables, some downstairs without window though, some upstairs overlooking the bar. Can be a bit squeezed and take long time to order, but reflected in quality of cocktails(starting at 10 €).

I was here last summer and was really enthusiastic. Today, not so much. We came in early for a pre-dinner cocktail: it took ages, and then they forgot one. Shit happens, moving on. When it arrived, it was all good, really it was. We went out and had dinner elsewhere and came back for another cocktail, because they do serve fantastic drinks. First thing the bar tender said to my friend who ordered: could you keep down the volume this time(wtf!?) Later on his colleague said: i am so sorry that you’re not the loudest customer anymore(WTBLOODYF?!) And i don’t care who’s bar tenders shit faced girlfriend was sitting on my friends ass, if she is, keep her on a leash, you’re running a business not a «soos», unless that’s the image you are going for. If so: well done! Again, they do serve a mean cocktail, so if you’re around go early and leave early just in time to avoid student-like behavior, because there was lots of it… Personally I’m not heading there any time soon and I defo recommend ANYONE to go to a more professional place instead. Tales & Spirits for instance, or 5&33. Anywhere actually where customer service is more than just two words…

Great food, good cocktails. This place is really good for dinner and roll into cocktails. Or pre-dinner cocktail followed by real food, depending on your style. European take on Modern American gastropub. Think full cocktail bar with yummy finger food. However, the main entries were better than snack appetizers. Five stars for main courses, three and a half for appetizers. Service level dropped after 9pm since the place switched to bar mode. If you have a date, make a reservation for dinner before 8pm, and hangout later bar style after.

The nightlife in Amsterdam is more than just about hitting up clubs, coffee shops and endless pubs. Amsterdam has so many cool places to dine out on any given night of the week. Amsterdam has everything from cool bars to great restaurants. Although there are so many hot spots to stop through, the best spot is here. I was lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful night out with a group of cool Unilocalers. Franklin Bar and Kitchen gives you the best of both worlds. This place has wonderful food, strong drinks and excellent service. The only downside is there is no gluten free menu. However, the chef was awesome enough to create a few nice gluten free(splendid) dishes for me that made me feel out of this world. I would strongly encourage the chef to create a few gluten-free permanent dishes on the menu, so I can come back for more. Are you looking for an intimate spot to enjoy Sunday brunch? Well I am happy to say that they will be serving brunch on Sundays. It’s not easy finding a good brunch spot in this city. I am absolutely sure this place will be known for their delicious breakfast. You know what they say about breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day! It kick starts your day off with happiness and positive energy.

Great new restaurant brought to you by the owners of Vesper Bar. Has been open since 23-ish February. Small plates, 10 – 12 options and a couple specials. Food is prepared really well. Chef(Charlie) came from a stint at the Conservatorium Hotel, and now has his first big shot at owning the kitchen. My fiancé and I were quite impressed. Service was excellent as well. We started at the bar where Jelmer(sorry, I probably botched the spelling), served us some great cocktails! Yep, that’s right… great cocktails in Amsterdam — basically a first for us… My favorite detail of the night came as we were wrapping up — our host came back to the table to ask us how dinner was and if we had any creative suggestions for anything we had… not as a criticism, but as feedback for future consideration. My fiancé, as the huge mac n cheese lover she is, gave a few tips straight from the South. Needless to say, we enjoyed every bit of the evening. This place will really go off in the Summer(it’s right outside the back of Vondelpark), so try it now before reservations are impossible. Can’t wait to go back!
