Is an normal NS train station. IT is not really big but it is a nice older building and there is an Albert Heijn and Hema inside.

Train travel, ah, one of rites of passage of living abroad. Each country’s train system has its own nuances. As the case for most Dutch trains and stations, don’t expect many frills. Meaning you won’t find an array of options for food and touristy trinkets. Necessities prevail. Maastricht is a small city of diversity and history which yields a romantic and idyllic feel. However, this dreamy feel often comes with a high sticker mark up. Do yourself a favor and stop by the newly opened HEMA located within the train station. Any type of incidental you can muster up from detergent, socks and underwear, health and beauty items, batteries and small ready to eat meals are much more reasonably priced within the HEMA. An Albert Heijn Express store is located next to HEMA for more grocery options. Maastricht station is located in the Wyck neighborhood. In order to get to the hustle and bustle of city’s main tourist attractions, you must cross the Meuse river. Travel to major cities, ie: Paris, London, Frankfurt can only be accomplished by a transfer to a larger station such as Brussel’s Gare du Midi(Paris/London) or Koln’s Hauptbahnhof(Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bonn) be forewarned, travel to Germany can take one to two transfers, and also takes a greater awareness of train routes and schedules. Travel to Amsterdam is a hourly direct train Currency exchange and passport photos are available in the main atrium.
