A leprosy museum? How can I turn that down? Unfortunately, the information here is interesting, but not interesting enough for a 70NOK price of admission. Frankly, the exhibits are mostly about the building and its history, and not about the actual disease of leprosy. I don’t know if that’s a fair criticism, as maybe the museum is supposed to be about the hospital and the work it did regarding leprosy rather than the disease itself, but there it is. If you want to learn more about the disease, you only get a little bit. For example, they discuss that a cure is now available, but don’t even mention what it is or how it was developed. You can probably take in the entire exhibit in 30 minutes or so, depending on how fast you read. There are very few objects to study, it’s mostly just large placards with text in Norwegian — other languages are provided via a nice handout. So… I dunno. I think I might skip this unless I really wanted to learn about this hospital. There are apparently guided tours at some times, and those might have made the place more worthwhile, but I was not able to catch one.
