Bada Sushi

Ich bin schon oft an dem kleinen unscheinbaren Lokal in der johannesgasse vorbeigegangen. Man hört in Wien so als Faustregel, die unscheinbaren Asiaten sind die besten (oder bilde ich mir das ein?). Jedenfalls war ich schon lange drauf und dran das Bada Sushi mal auszuprobieren. War zum Mittagessen dort. Man geht gleich in den ersten Stock hoch (wobei es gibt so eine verstecke Nische — Stammtisch?). Es ist, wie von außen zu erahnen, sehr simpel und unscheinbar. Man geht nicht für das Dekor hin (was mir persönlich zusagt; Muss aber nicht jeden gefallen). Es war sehr viel los die Bedienung war deshalb auch leicht schnippisch (deswegen «nur» 4 Sterne; aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau).
Die Speisekarte ist zweiteilig aufgebaut, einmal koreanisches essen und einmal japanisches. Die Speisen sind durchaus authentisch (kann ich aus meiner persönlichen Japan-​Erfahrung bestätigen), deshalb auch ein leicht höherer Preis, den ich mir bei der guten Qualität aber durchaus einreden lasse. Es gibt div. Warme Speisen, Sushi, Maki, sashimi, und ein Mittagsmenü (Suppe+Hauptspeise). Die Portionen sind ausreichend groß. Im direkten «Menü-​Vergleich» mit akakiko muss ich sagen dass es weniger chemisch schmeckt und die miso-​Suppe ist um einiges besser. Mein gegenüber hatte eine Steintopf (!) mit bibimbap was echt super aussah. Der Nebentisch hatte div. Sushis und Makis und der Fisch sah zumindest sehr saftig aus. Der Reis war sehr gut klebrig.
Das authentische Feeling ist echt super, es geht schnell und das Essen ist wirklich gut. Man braucht keinen Schnaps danach wie bei anderen Asiaten in der Umgebung. Der Preis ist leicht höher als bei der direkten Konkurrenz, aber ob der vielen Pluspunkte durchaus vertretbar. Die Bedienung könnte einfach ein bisschen netter sein, aber vielleicht hatte sie einen schlechten Tag. Das Essen war wie erhofft sehr gut und durchaus empfehlenswert.

Korean restaurant, where the conversation when I walked in with my friend K started something like this:
K: «Well its probably pretty good authentic Korean food because there are lots of Koreans eating here»
Me: «Ya, well the reason we’re here is because my Korean friend J says its the best in town. And she’s directly from Korea. I only take you to the best baby»
So ya, its apparently authentic Korean food for a fairly reasonable Vienna price smack in the first district, not to far from the Church (aka «dome»). You’ll pay about 11 Euros a plate, if you stick to mains, maybe 5 – 8 extra if you do appetizers.
When you walk in, you can walk yourself to the second floor where most of the tables are. They wanted to sit us somewhere we didn’t care for, so we just asked to change the table. Why that became a discussion between the hostess before, I don’t know. Also, note to you, even if there are empty tables, the waitress does walk past you a million times after you’re done eating… whatever. We stayed an extra hour after I’m sure. Its Europe after all.
Environment: Looks more like a dinner (no linens, you’re either at a table or booth), its not romantic dim lights by any means.
Bathroom: Downstairs, behind that bar thingy, to the right. Not my favourite bathroom around, for the ladies at least the light is on the wall opposite the bathroom, next to the sink if I remember correct. Odd looking button, but ok, the adventure continues.
Why sushi I have no idea. My friend tried it. It was ok. I think you pay like under 2 Euros a piece.
As for the general menu, its awesome. Soup, noodles, rice, you name it, its pretty good too. I had a spicy soup, which was spicy but not impossibly so (I can eat pretty spicy). We also had dumplings. They were good. We were both full, but not gross full. Which means if you have a night planned out, you can go dance salsa at Floridita, which is not even 3 doors over. There you go. The perfect night out in Vienna. You’re welcome.
Overall: if you’re craving Korean, go to Bada. Its good good good. One star down just cause it wasn’t the most magical experience ever known to mankind, but this is officially my Korean spot in Vienna. Plus nearly every metro stops near it (no parking buddies, its downtown).
