War heute(Montag) Abend eigentlich total voll. Nach 20 Minuten warten bekamen wir einen Tisch. Urgemütlich eingerichtet. Holzbänke in einem Kellergewölbe. Hatten die Mixed Ribs für 2 Personen. 5 zur Auswahl. Haben sogar 6 bekommen. Alle sehr lecker.

My friend and I came in relatively late(around 8:30pm) on a Friday without a reservation, and we were told that the wait would be at least an hour long, maybe even an hour and a half. Seeing how popular this place is, we changed our plans for the next day to accommodate a lunch reservation that the manager graciously allowed us to make on the spot. So, we came in the following afternoon to find the restaurant only about half filled — so if you’re planning to come for dinner, definitely make a reservation beforehand, but walk-ins for lunch seem to be okay. We were greeted and seated by a really friendly server, who let us choose our table since there was quite a bit of empty space. We sat, ordered drinks, and ultimately decided to order the classic Ribs of Vienna with fried potatoes to share between the two of us. A different waiter took our order, and when he brought out our food, he brought out potato chips instead of the fried potatoes we asked for. We kindly told him that it wasn’t what we had ordered, but he refused and insisted, «No, you told me potato chips,» and we went back and forth several times before he told us that he could get us the fried potatoes we wanted, but we would have to pay for it! I didn’t feel like putting up with his attitude, so I just ended up saying that it was fine and it didn’t matter, because, let’s be honest, it’s just potatoes. But the way he handled it was really off-putting, and I’d never experienced anything like that before at any restaurant. Now with that aside, let’s discuss the food itself. The meat was pretty good, though not the best I’ve had; and for the crazy wait the night before and the rave reviews I read online, I was honestly expecting more. BUT, it’s still pretty good, especially at such a fair price. Had I had a better experience with my server, I would have liked this restaurant a lot more.

The food: Ribs don’t get much better than the ones you can have at Ribs of Vienna. The menu includes an interesting variety of food, with ribs at the forefront. Can recommend having a mixture of a few. «Province» and«Vulcano» were my favorites out of the five I tried, delicious! The restaurant: Located on a beutiful street in Vienan in an old cellar which gives it a charming atmosphere. Excellent service as well, will be back for sure!

The wait was very long — about 1.5 hours — which is quite the turn-off, but the staff is very upfront about it, even dissuading coming without a reservation as it can get to 2 – 3 hours sometimes. The staff is very friendly as well. We both felt that the taste and quality of the ribs were deserving of a good review. My girlfriend said the portioning of the junior ribs(one slab) was perfect for her, and coincidentally the portioning of the Ribs of Vienna(three slabs) was perfect for me, so I guess no matter what you get, you’ll have enough haha. If you’re willing to wait for your food, it can be a pleasant experience.

Fun waiters. Our experience was so good we came a second time. However, there was a three hours wait for our second experience. We were determined to go. And the waiters gave us free beer and sacher cake for our pure passion.

I came here mid April and wish there were more stars to give out. It’s seriously the best ribs I’ve ever tasted hands down. I still think about it every day and wish there was a place in NY that made it just the way I had it that night in Vienna. The restaurant is downstairs in a cellar dated back from 1591. It’s very rustic with fun dim lighting and very friendly waiters. My husband and I waited upstairs where we were able to order big draught beers for about 20 minutes. The waiter asked if we wanted to sit with a Russian couple so we can cut the waiting and time and we said yea! We ordered Vienna Classic-Asian-Diablo-Garlic-Ginger flavors. With some bacon wrapped string beans, potatoes, chips, coleslaw and garlic bread + 3 dips. Delicious! (Our waiter even referred us to Albertine Passage for amazing love jazz!)

We had a great meal at Ribs of Vienna, food is great, all family members love it including my two little ones! Other than the ribs, pls also try their baked cheese! Superb! And the best part is the kindly service of Mr. Marlen, tks for the recommendations and tips about the icecream! ;)

Occupying the basement vault of a centuries-old building, this place is famous for its long racks of spare ribs, slathered in your choice of BBQ sauce. The setting makes you feel like you’re in an old castle, but the menu is American themed – go here only if you’re tired of German food.

I also give it two stars. It’s definitely a tourist restaurant. Wish I hadn’t eaten there. I ordered the Ribs Vienna and they were very chewy. They could have chopped up a tennis shoe and called it ribs. Staff was okay, not overly friendly but not rude.

Delicious! The food was great, but the service was better! We got there early for our 7:30p.m. reservation, but they didn’t mind seating us immediately. We weren’t sure what to order so they recommended the squareribs for two with the choice of five flavors, and helped us choose the flavors based on what we liked. We got an onion glaze, a sweet glaze with a hint of ginger(my mom’s and my favorite), a Mexican(supposedly ‘mildly’ spicy however wasn’t spicy at all), and then just the regular Vienna glaze. All the glazes we were encouraged to select we’re delicious– the worst was the classic Vienna glaze, which was still good. We were served a generous amount of delicious food– potatoes we could dip in a garlic sauce that reminded me of Spain’s patata bravas– green beans wrapped up in bacon, which was also scrumptious(and I usually dislike green beans), and garlic bread, which was the only thing I ate that I wasn’t impressed with. By far the best meal I had in Vienna, but be sure to make a reservation beforehand as it gets packed quick!!!

They offered several different varieties of delicious ribs. They were flavorful and the service was great. I recommend getting the«Spareribs Mixed» platter to get a taste of three different flavors for only a couple of Euro more. Add a couple of cold beers and you’re in heaven!

If you like ribs it’s definitively the place to go — the choice they have in terms of toppings, sauces, spices etc is just amazing… you can even have 3 different styles in one dish. Great! Downside is they are victims of their own success meaning: reservation mandatory or you’ll go home hungry, they are slow in service and sometimes even snappy and it’s quite expensive. So 5⁄5 for the food and 1⁄5 for the rest meaning an average of 3⁄5. Again, if you love ribs… just go, you won’t regret it(as far as the food is concerned).

Not sure how anyone can give this place more than 2 stars. We went there because there are some good reviews around the web and it was recommended to me. I have to say that these ribs certainly don’t deserve to be called any good. I went for the plate with 3 different flavours of ribs where you can choose from about 15 different styles. When they came the all tasted kind a the same. The were also dry and a bit chewy. In there are only tourists anyway, so I guess they have also been fooled by the reviews or someone«recommended» it to them. I have also heard some bad stories about the service, but at least that worked for us… Overall, we were full but didn’t have any pleasure there, won’t go there again…

I can’t read German, and so I don’t know what to make of the other reviews here. I come to Vienna often, and always come to Ribs of Vienna. I mean always. This place is what it is… a ribs place. There are a lot of different types of ribs, but kinda all taste similar to me. Nevertheless, the ribs are good, the service is ok, unless the place is packed(which it is sometimes), and the beer is decent. Why 4 stars? Maybe I am sentimental about the place, but this place hits the spot for me. Unusual place for the first district, good ribs, and a nice wait staff is why…

Touristy but a lot of fun. Not so good in the Summer months as there is no outdoor setting, but good, scrumptious, huge portions of big fat ribs. As I said, a lot of fun and the service is friendly also.

ooops, auch hier bin ich nicht überrascht dass ich die erste Bewertung bin ;) wohl eher eine touristenfalle! warum wir da reingestolpert sind, naja, wollten einfach nach dem bummeln mal wieder ein neues lokal für unsere restaurant battle 2012 suchen, hatten grad guster auf was fleischiges,… und sind dann dort reingefallen, im wahrsten sinne des Wortes,… mussten auf einen Tisch warten(ist für uns nie ein problem, weil wir uns dann einfach einen Apéritif an der bar gönnen) tja, obwohl wir an der bar standen, uns die Getränkekarte bereits selber von einem stoss genommen hatten, glaubst du da kommt wer drauf uns einen drink anzubieten? geschweige denn anzusehen sodass wir ohne fragen einen bestellen könnten? richtig, die Antwort ist nein ;) na gut, der Tisch war dann nach 10 Minuten eh schon bereit, oder doch nicht, denn nachdem wir sassen wurde uns gesagt dass dieser Tisch besetzt ist und wir dann auf den Nachbartisch übersiedeln müssten sobald dieser frei würde,… mmhhh, na gut, etwas komisch und ungeschickt(=drink an der bar anstelle mit Getränk und essen Tisch zu wechseln wäre professioneller und angenehmer für den gast, aber was weisse den ich schon ;)) war dann aber eh froh dass wir Tisch gewechselt haben, denn unser erster Tisch war dreckig, haben ihn selber mit Servietten gereinigt,… nachdem wir dann endlich mal bestellen durften, kamen die ribs ganz zügig, und die original sind echt die besten, Ginger sind auch ned schlecht gewesene, und da der krautsalat lecker war gibt’s nun doch 2**,… also ich glaub nicht dass ich mich dort nochmal hinverirren werden ;) obwohl das lokal an sich echt cool ist mit dem Kellergewölbe, aber ein gutes restaurant braucht halt neben der guten location/atmosphaere auch gutes nettes personal und wenn das nicht passt hilft auch gutes essen nicht mehr Sterne zu bekommen,…
