My wife and I have been to a lot of places in the world, and eaten a lot of BBQ. We even grew up in the South. We know good BBQ. This place? GREATBBQ. Literally the best fried chicken we’ve ever had, and everything else was top-quality too, including the drinks(Lynchburg Lemonades). We shared an enormous combination plate that let us try out most of Big Smoke’s offerings, and our only regret was that we didn’t get two. This is a great place, with friendly waitstaff, delicious dishes, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The only downside is that it’s incredibly popular, there’s shared seating(so you probably won’t get a private meal if you go alone or as a couple), and you’ll be waiting a long time for just about everything. We waited about an hour(on a weekday!) before we were seated, and another 40 minutes before we got our food. It’s worth the wait, though — this place really does live up to the hype. If you’re in Vienna for whatever reason, take the time to make a trip here.

Coming from a Texan: Tasty food and good beer but… it’s not Texas BBQ. The pulled pork was sweet and the brisket was peppery but both still had good flavor. It’s interesting they would offer kimchi as a side — kimchi is most definitely Korean, not Texan ;) The Mac n’ Cheese was tasty. The severs were friendly but the food took a long time to come out and wasn’t hot when it did.

BBQ by the canal on a hot summer day… enjoy the cool delicious drinks with some tasty hardy meat! We knew that Vienna was known for their sausages and their pork schnitzel, but we didn’t know their BBQ would be just as good. A summer stroll on the canal led us to discover Big Smoke BBQ. We shared the sausage, fried chicken, ribs, and pork belly — each one had its own unique flavor. Steve was a wonderful waiter(maybe even the owner, not sure) and he was extremely nice. He even entertained our questions about the pool in the canal and shared a quick story about never liking beer until he tried one from the USA. Definitely stop by and relax!

Meat is good, but not everything on the menu is available and we talk about only five different items! Sides are ok to bad. BBQ beans taste exactly like the Chili powder you get at the super market and the potato salad contained three small pieces of potato. The rest was mayonnaise!!! Mac & Cheese was great! Service is a really bad. First, they have a sign that you should wait to get seated. Well … there is no hostess to do that and people are standing around waiting, but no one comes. At some point you figure out that you can just walk in. Waiters are not knowledgeable about what they serve. I asked a simple thing: «Are the ribs(baby) back or spareribs». She had no idea what I was talking about. She took the order one time — and we never saw her again. So we couldn’t even get a second drink. After 1 hour we decided to aggressively go after the check. Bottom line is: Meat is good, Sides are not so good, service is horrible

Letztes Jahr gab es in diesem pop-up Laden am Donaukanals den ganzen Sommer Burger, dieses Jahr hat man sich auf BBQ spezialisiert. Ich habe lange über die Anzahl an Sternen, die ich dem Big Smoke geben soll, gegrübelt. Denn dass Essen war echt spitze, beim drumherum gibt es definitiv noch Verbesserungspotenzial. Als wir ankamen war es echt total voll, also warteten wir am Eingangsbereich auf einen Kellner, der uns sagen würde, wo was frei wird, wie lange es noch dauert oder uns sonst wie wahrnimmt. Obwohl es eindeutig eine Rezeption gab, war diese nicht besetzt und es schien sich auch keiner für diese Aufgabe zuständig zu fühlen. Als dann endlich ein Tisch frei wurde, setzten wir uns also einfach. Der Tisch wurde denn auch relativ schnell gesäubert und uns die Karte gebracht. Dann ließ man uns jedoch eine wirklich lange Zeit warten, bis wir eine Bestellung aufgeben könnten, und als das endlich erledigt war, haben die Getränke auf sich warten lassen. In der Küche, in dessen Nähe wir saßen, schien man wesentlich besser organisiert zu sein — offensichtlich zu gut und zu schnell für die Kellner. Ich hatte das pulled pork Sandwich mit Kimchi und Red Slaw als Beilage. Das war super lecker, dazu gab es noch eine der besten BBQ-Soßen, die ich je probiert habe. Das pulled pork konnte definitiv mit dem, das ich in England und den USA gegessen habe mithalten. Und da wir wegen dem Essen hier waren, es sich um ein neues ‘Lokal’ und kein etabliertes Restaurant handelt, gibt es die volle Sternzahl.

This is a great place to dine and grab a fee drinks with good weather. The atmosphere is so chilled and they have really good cold kozel pils beer. Food was excellent talk but a bit pricy. Would recommend to anyone.
