Steiner Cafe

Great Location right across the street from belvedere.
Coffee is good but furniture a bit too modern and cold in my opinion.
Staff was friendly and the pastries looked really nice.

Kaffee ist gut aber die Einrichtung für meinen Geschmack etwas zu modern und steril.
Kellnerin war sehr nett und die Kuchen– Vitrine sah sehr ansprechend aus.

Stopped in on the way to Belvedere. It is clean, quiet and had friendly service. However it was 8:30 in the morning, and although they have a pretty limited menu, they were already out of croissants. We both ordered the meal that was two rolls (one was supposed to be a croissant), ham, cheese, mélange and orange juice. Overall I’d call it all pretty average continental breakfast fare. But it was about 10 pounds per person. Also, worth noting its cash only. Overall, it was fine. We were nourished, but I wouldn’t necessarily go back.

Etwas ungewohnte, frische Atmosphäre durch in Weiß und leichtem Grau gehaltene Räume. Ungewohnt. Wo sind die Zeiten als man von dichten Rauchschwaden und dunklem Holz im Zwielicht begrüßt wurde?
Schick, modern, fast steril anmutend.
Da muss ICH mich erst daran gewöhnen…
Bedienung ist nett und passend, adrett (!) gekleidet !
Kaffee okay, aber 3,60 für eine Mélange (in dieser Gegend) zu hoch !

I finally had time to have a sit down coffee here. This place fits a need in the area. There was a definite lack of coffee houses here. I’m sure the tourists visiting Belvedere across the street will appreciate it!
It’s a traditional Viennese coffee house in that it has the usual range of coffees and cakes. They also offer some typical Vienese breakfasts and snacks like ham & cheese toast or frankfurters.
They’re a bit pricey, but not so bad considering they’re going to be «catching» the tourists. They’ve invested a lot in décor. This place was pretty shabby-​looking before Steiner took over. Now is white and clean and inviting.
The staff are very friendly, which is nice in such a traditional coffee house. They also have coffee to go for a good price.
