Great food and amazing service — the waiter went above & beyond. We had the maple ribs and coleslaw(Polish-style and very good). Who knew you could get ribs like that in Krakow?

The restaurant is not so big and it looks really nice. The service is good aswell and we got really good ribs. We(4 people) paid around 80 € for all together and we had starters, main course, beer, coffee and whisky so we totaly recomend it for good barbecue.

Sing along now(to the tune of Kings of Leon’s «Sex on Fire»)… «Oooh… my ribs are on fire» Ok, I love ribs despite the fact normally you are paying for bones rather than actual meat(Warsztat Po Polsku restaurant being the exception, when one of my dinner companions actually had completely bone-free ribs). My other great ribs experience in Kraków was at the legendary Kawiarnia Jama Michalika, but there the fantastic bone-laden meat was just another element in an exquisite evening spent with charming company in an elegant, history-rich setting. When a friend invited me to Rzeźnia — Ribs on Fire I was intrigued to see how their ribs would compare to other Kraków ribs or even the ribs back home in England at places such as Harvester or Rib Shack. First impressions were ok. The place is decorated like a male teenager’s bedroom from the early 80’s. Glossy red and black everywhere, but with a meat theme instead of pictures of Ferrari’s and scantily clad women. In the spirit of «trying new things» I decided to order the spicy ribs. The plate of ribs soon arrived and it was totally massive. If any has lost a pig recently, I think it just turned up on my plate. I spent the best part of five minutes carving up the ribs, by which time the ribs were almost cold. Eating the ribs turned out to be a messy business and I was kind of regretting taking the spicy option. The coleslaw was kind of interesting as it was flavoured with caraway seeds. After eating the ribs and chips I wasn’t particularly full-up, but the options for dessert were strictly limited. Szarlokta(apple pie) or sernik(cheesecake). So, the million zloty question… «Would I eat here again?» Possibly not, the menu is slightly limited and the food is ok, but not awe-inspiring. On the plus side, the service is very good and the prices are quite reasonable.
