Our old family friends took us here for the day. It was full of nifty antiques, but I really didn’t care for it. I asked one thing of the server, and that was to suggest something without mushrooms. Imagine my horror when I received my pork cutlet and the cabbage salad has mushroom minced in good? I passed them out onto the tablecloth because I won’t make a point to be a good diner if you can’t follow a basic tenant and pick a meal filled with something I had specifically asked not to have. The pork cutlet was otherwise good, but how can you screw that up? The gelatin fish was so terrible my family friend who had been coming there for years and specifically looking forward to, wouldn’t eat it. Pass.

We were hesitant about trying this place after the negative service comments. However we are glad we did. We ate outside and had very a very pleasant server. I had the salmon and my husband had a veal dish. Both were very good. Also split an apple pie with ice cream. With 2 beers it totaled 73pln. A winner!

I dined here alone on a weekend evening. The selections were pricey for Poland. However, everything I had were quite tasty. The mushroom soup in particular was delicious! I still think of it from time to time after returning to the US. My main course of veal cutlet was cut a bit thin for my personal preference but it was tender and properly seasoned. The dessert apple pie was fantastic! It was also not overly sweet as I feared. I didn’t care for the 1 zloty fee for the bathroom. No where in Poland did I have to pay to use the bathroom at a restaurant I had dined in, but I had to keep in mind that this was the most expensive section of the capital. They can basically charge whatever they wanted. They did not charge me an automatic gratuity. My server was a very sweet girl. No complaints there.

Worst. Place. Ever. The waiters were rude, the food was disgusting to say the least, and we were asked to pay for things we didn’t ask for: bread we received without asking, coats hanging costs money(!!!) and the WC too(!!!11123). The waiter took our plates before we finished eating, put the bill on the table without us asking for it(which of course included a 10% service) and put a «reserved» note on the table while were sitting, shocked. Simply put, don’t.

Inedible is not something I come across often. But the«chef’s recommended» pork in mushroom sauce with noodles at Pod Samsonem sadly turned out to be just that. The«noodles» looked and tasted nothing like noodles at all. The closest approximation I can make is that they appeared to be clumps of boiled flour in various sizes with no seasoning nor binder to speak of(which, as you might imagine, were quite unappetising). The pork was stuffed with a dark, sweet substance that I assume to be prunes. And the accompanying mushroom sauce was oddly viscous. All in all, this lunch plate was one of the worst I’ve had in recent memory. My dining companion very much enjoyed his meal but couldn’t stomach more than a couple of bites of mine(and this is a guy who will eat almost anything)! But I left Pod Samsonem regretful and unsatiated.

This is a really nice Jewish Polish restaurant in the Old Town of Warsaw. It’s a little out of our league but as the cold winter night forced us to find anywhere along this expensive part of town, this was the most reasonable place. That being said it was lovely. The meals were delicious and varied, and the service was excellent. We didn’t leave a tip though because there was a high service charge already included.
