Bar Mleczny Pod Barbakanem

Always on the hunt for milk bars throughout Poland, we found this one through Unilocal.It had great reviews on another website and was close to the tourist sites of Old Town.
This was probably our favorite milk bar in all of Poland. It definitely had old character but it also had some great conveniences. Firstly — a laminated English menu by the till! This was helpful since employees at milk bars rarely speak English. You are able to point and she will write it down in Polish for the kitchen.
Service is simple and fairly quick. They will call out your order in Polish — just watch for it at the counter where you dropped off your slip. A second window on the side is for dirty dishes.
Fairly good options here and always home cooked. We enjoyed the variety we were finally able to order with the assistance of the English menu, the smiles despite the language barrier, the always cheap prices and overall atmosphere of Pod Barbakanem.
Please remember they always close at 4pm. Not a good dinner option.
