This was the first place that I drove to from the airport! The seafood was cooked just right, not over cooked and rubbery like some places. The alcapurria was my favorite item to eat on the go. Super cheap. close to water front.

I was in Puerto Rico on Vacation goods good friend of mine highly recommended this place. Needless to say I was not disappointed. Everything we ordered was so tasty. I personally had their Pulpo with rice and beans and it was great! Definitely make this place to stop if you’re in Piñones.

Foreign are the names bacalaito and alcapurria but omnipresent are the dishes in PR. We were told to hit this for the real deal, so this is the first pit stop we made after we picked up our car rental. Pinones is a quaint waterside area with lots of food ‘shacks’. The no frills approach works here, as I saw a man peeling yucca as we ate on weathered wooden tables while a man was BBQ-ing our food. Between the shake stall and the BBQ grill was this boiling cast iron pot filled with alcapurria carne filling. It looked so delicious! $ 4 for 3(yes, $ 4 for all 3, not EACH) –Carne Alcapurria — what appears to be a mini fried yam at first glance. It’s actually ground plantain/tubers deep fried in oil, wasn’t feeling this, but could appreciate it for what it was –Chicken Kebab — the sauce was a tad sweet and great, they don’t skimp here, huge chunks of chicken! –Bacalaito — fried cod pancake, if you thought pajun(korean pancakes) were crack, this is heroine –Batida de Guanabana($ 3.50) — soursop is my new thing, so good, chunks of meaty flesh in here, never had it so fresh before –Batida de Mango($ 3.50) — nothing added, super orange, super sweet, orgasm in a cup Total came out to $ 5.50/pp after everything. I’ll upload a teaser pic for now but will upload more in a few days to do this review justice. be sure to check back! Pic:

This place is a little tricky to find — it sits between Rte 187 and the ocean — so it’s not visible from the road. Worth the effort though. I ordered the chef’s specialty of seafood mufongo and it was fresh and delicious. The service was little slow. Here’s the Fodor’s review: Talk about truth in packaging – the Crazy Octopus has its palm-shaded tables planted firmly in the sand just a few yards from the ocean. As you might guess, octopus, oysters, mussels, and crab lead the lineup at this colorful seafood shack, though you can always munch on local favorites like fried codfish fritters. If your thirst is greater than your hunger, you can opt for a beer served in a plastic cup. The staff is friendly, and seems to know all the customers on a first-name basis. They take major credit cards.
