I don’t speak spanish, nor do they speak much English. Who cares? The food is delicious.

Literally landed in San Juan, checked into our hotel and headed to Pinones to do what I call«the Alcapurria trail». This place was great. Service is a bit slow. It’s a cool local spot. Nothing fancy– just good food. Would go back!

Good food but slow service. During my stay in Puerto Rico this would rank as average good food. Not the best or the worst. It took a very long time for the check to come. I’m not sure if I don’t know a certain process for getting a check in Puerto Rico but this happened at almost all the restaurants. In town it looked like on of the nicer restaurants. Many others were food stand type, but I prefer to order and have my food made fresh, so we ate here.
Nice little local type restaurant. I’m a vegan and I was pleased at the choices in food. I came here for lunch and didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day lol. The rice and beans were delicious and so was the mofongo. Ordered a Coco Frio to wash it down and scooped out the meat for dessert :)

Small plates and for the price well worth it. Food was good. Most importantly they had very cold beer! Service was a little slow throughout. Server was not pushy. Grabbed myself a few chicken pinchos(chicken kebobs).

SOOOOOGOOD!!! I can honestly say that this is one of my all time favorite restaurants in the world! I’ve lived in major international cities in the US and Asia, and traveled around both, but this places stands out as one I long to return to. I feel so fortunate to have been brought here by my extended PR family on a recent visit. I have loved Mofongo since first being introduced to it 8 years ago, but the«tri-fongo» here(combination of plantains, yuca, and sweet plantains) takes it to a whole new level of awesomeness! I had it with seafood and lobster in garlic sauce, and then tried it with chicken the next day.(Yes, during my brief 3 day visit to PR, I insisted that we returned this restaurant for 2 meals). Throw in a few different empanadas and nice cold beer to wash it down and it was heaven. I can no longer eat empanadas anywhere else because I know they wont hold up to these ones! Crispy shell with a bit of chewy dough on the inside and full of fresh fillings and a great zesty green sauce in top. Not to mention the casual, open air seating(plastic tables, chairs and cutlery) just across from the beach, it’s impossible not to feel like a local here. Plus, all of the staff(including the owner and manager whom I met) were very friendly and gracious despite my lack of Spanish :) It pains me to write this review and relive all of the deliciousness without having another trip back already planned, but when I do return I know where my first stop will be :)

This is the place for local Puerto Rican food. The real beach experience right behind the airport and 5 minutes in car from the Ritz Carlton. We land here from Miami and it’s our first stop. The Mofongo with Caribbean lobster is very tasty. Also the fried pork chunks and great land crab fritters called alcapurrias de jueyes. Don’t forget a Piña Colada or a local ice cold Medalla beer.
