Fat Tuesday in PR, who would have thought! It’s really the only bar I remember going to in La Placita because I already know the name from frequenting the one in Vegas many a time. Drinks are definitely cheaper though! Thursday is the night to check out the bars in La Placita de Santurce. Lots of fun people, loud music, and dancing. Go early, because things start to wind down by midnight.

Went on a saturday night. Drinks were right on point. dj was good. Venue is a nice size and it wasn’t packed so there was room to move about and be free. female bartender dancing ontop of the bar was entertaining. nice spot will be back.

That 190 Octane will sneak up on you… if you order one, just order ONE. I learned the hard way(Ft. Lauderdale circa 2004) that you do NOT drink 2 and make it through the night. Anyway…I came here for one drink during our 2 hour wait for a table and Jose Enrique and was not disappointed. The drinks were good and cheap. The vibe outside Fat Tuesday’s was awesome, as there was some live music and people dancing in the streets. I had a good time here and would definitely come back if I’m in the area.

When in Puerto Rico La Plazita is must. The only way I could really describe it is just picture a typical scene somewhere tropical, hot, friendly locals, salsa blaring out of the clubs, everyone dancing with a drink in hand just having a great time. That was my night at Fat Tuesdays. They have frozen alcoholic concoctions to impair your judgement and make you think you can hula hoop drunk with the locals. Ok maybe thats just me. Either way, loved the drinks, loved the hula hoop and loved La Plazita. Puerto Rico I shall be back.

Bourbon st style bar in the plaza del mercados area of santurce in San Juan. Lively hip hop and latin music, friendly bar staff, strong drinks and even stronger crowd participation. Good fun was had by all.

You should head down to the Plaza during a weekend night — we actually stopped by here twice, on Friday and Sunday. It’s part of the whole ambience, but it’s great to see lots of locals and tourists mingling in the plaza, with alcohol in hand. Their wall of frozen drink machines are awesome — my favorite was the piña colada, which was great to cool me off after watching all the salsa dancing taking place in the plaza. Even when it got crowded, service was quick, and prices were very resonable.

Yay! Came here for some late night debauchery with my travel consort after a day of lounging at the beach. We were a bit worried to walk around at night(Plaza del Mercado was within walking distance of our hotel) due to the many warnings we’d received from friends/family about the dangers of San Juan after dark. However, our fears were quickly killed after asking the front desk guy for advice. He looked at us like we were being a bit silly to be worried so we were on our way. I’d been to a Fat Tuesday’s in Vegas so I was familiar with the frozen slushy cocktail machines and the«free» souvenir cups. We tried a few samples and then settled on the bright red Mardi Gras Mash and bellini, both mixed with the 190 Octane. We also ended up getting fries while sitting outside, which were decent, but the portion was quite small for the price. The bathrooms are small but the lines move quickly(mainland American girls could learn a thing or two about not dawdling in bathrooms from these girls!) and they were clean. I definitely enjoyed the music the dj was playing(I actually recognized the music) and my friend and I had a lot of fun dancing and we did our best to try and get some more free mardi gras beads. They played music videos on big flat screens above the bar. When you get your souvenir cup refilled, it’s cheaper than the first round, so that’s a bonus. Also, they have $ 1 jello shots and a girl was walking around advertising happy hour beers.

This is a Mardi Gras-themed bar at Plaza del Mercado in San Juan. My friend and I came here on a Friday night to party. We saw people holding long, plastic bottles of frozen drinks in here, so we decided to step in to try it out. They have a wall of frozen drink machines on the wall. They had so many flavors and we weren’t sure of which ones to get, so we asked the bartender for a small sample of 190 Octane to see how it was. He also gave us a the Mardi Gras Mash sample and this other blue one to try. We decided on a 190 Octane/Mardi Gras Mash one and a 190 Octane/Bellini one(we opted for 190 Octane bc it sounded and tasted strongly of alcohol). We also received Mardi Gras beads after ordering our drinks, which was fun. We were allowed to bring these drinks out to the plaza area. After we got back and sat in the outdoor sitting area of Fat Tuesday, we decided to get refills on our drinks and ordered fries with«Louisiana hot sauce», which just tasted like Tabasco sauce. The fries were in wedge form, which I love. When it turned 11pm, they closed all the doors(as outdoor drinking isn’t allowed after 11) and we went inside to refill our drinks and dance the rest of the night away. They played a lot of American/rap/hip hop songs(a lot of Pitbull, one of my favorite rappers), which is always fun to dance to. All in all, I had a lot of fun here and definitely enjoyed myself.
