Congratulations, you just found the best hidden secret of Old San Juan! This rooftop restaurant/bar overlooks not only San Cristobal, but also most of San Juan’s skyline. I lived in the SF Bay area for years and this view totally took the cake! Flipper, our server, was absolutely amazing, a huge asset to San Juan’s restaurant/bar scene! If you want high quality food, friendly staff(seriously, it is like a family) and AH-MAY-ZING drinks(I had two mojitos, they were that good!), then venture to the top of the hotel and spend some time with Flipper and the crew! –From the Rocket City, AL.

One thing you will never STOP hearing in Puerto Rico(as a visitor anyway) is «did you try the mofongo? How did you like the mofongo?» It’s kind of hilarious actually. In any case, if that’s what you’re after – you can definitely get a great helping here. The mojo sauce was delicious, and with chicken, shrimp, or beef, I really don’t think you can miss here. It sometimes gets a bit crowded if the cruise ships are in town, but other than that this place is pretty solid. They also have a pretty decent drink menu if that’s your thing. There’s outdoor seating which almost has a kind of communal feel to it. I dig this place.

The mofogno was amazing! This place was recommended to us by another tourist and they were right. The mofogno is superb. The drinks were really sweet. We tried mojitos, pina coladas, and another rum drink that all had way too much simple syrup in them. They have reasonably priced white wine and beer though, so that’s what we went for. My only real complaint was the service. It was SO slow. We had to ask to be seated and served. Our entrees and appetizer took over an hour to arrive.

Picked this place based on Unilocal reviews. My husband and I are spending the day in San Juan. The elevator ride up to the restaurant was sketchy, so we definitely will walk the 4 flights back down. I ordered the churrasquitos(Argentina steak tacos) and a side of the arroz mamposteado(blended Puerto Rican rice). Very delicious and beautiful plate presentation. And very reasonably priced at $ 13! Service was spectacular. Only 4 stars because the tables are resting on top of beer/wine barrels, so you literally have to spread your legs wide to sit at the table. I’m a lady and didn’t care for that! But great food and perfect for lunch. If I came back I would get the steak mofongo-saw on another table and it looked delicious! The bartender was really cool also — gave my husband a free shot for checking in, which was some apple Bacardi with splash of cranberry concoction that he loved.

We stayed right next door to Punto de Vista at the CasaBlanca hotel, and could see the rooftop restaurant from the hotel. That alone is what lured us to seek the place out on our final night in Puerto Rico. Much to our extreme disappointment, the rooftop section was closed due to some rain, so we sat inside gazing longingly at the romantic rooftop. It’s kind of a contradictory environment; when you see the rooftop you expect a more trendy, chic environment, but the inside of the restaurant is very pub/sports bar/bar and grille. Fortunately, the service and food did not disappoint. Our waiter was soo great, and the mofongo(boyfriend got) and skirt steak(I got) were wonderful and really, really reasonably priced. We also got the tres leches to go, which ended up being just ok. Show up on a clear night and try to get a seat on the rooftop. With this kind of food, pricing, and service, the rooftop would have been the cherry on top. Only issue was the other staff members. The restaurant closed at 9:30(we were there until probably 9:45), and the other staff members were loudly cleaning up around us, moving furniture, yelling, laughing, and banging on counter tops. Again, the restaurant’s branding seems very confused. The food, the rooftop, and our waiter were high-quality, but the atmosphere of the bar area and the unprofessionalism of the other staff members brought it down a notch.

We started with two Bacardi mojito. It was ok. Little bit light for my taste. We ordered a monfongo ** with pork and their steak. The steak was tender and the monfongo was amazing! It was cool to see the view of city from the rooftop.

Looking for something local and a bit hidden away from what seems like a tourist trap? This is a good spot. Mofongo was good, staff even politely suggested how to eat it(mash it up when it arrives). Mojito was good as well. Overall, reasonably priced and a good dinner. Only con: modified barrels for chairs were uncomfortable and awkward.

This is a hidden gem. Located on the roof of a hotel, this restaurant has good vibes and delicious food. I personally had the grilled skirt steak, and it was delicious. Meat was tender, moist, and served with chimichiri sauce. Add a side of fried sweet plantains, and you will be stuffed. Make sure to come during their happy hour for a 2 for 1 mojito special. You won’t be disappointed with this one!

Loved this restaurant! My boyfriend and I had the fried plantains, steak with rice and beans and mofango with steak. It was delicious. We also had the two for one mojito deal and our bill was around 55 which isn’t bad at all for such a nice view! Nikki our waitress was so great and sweet. She even took pictures for us with the view :) thanks Nikki! The only thing that made me nervous is the elevator is very sketchy and slow.

Hidden on top of a hotel that you could take a 5 person limit scary old elevator up to. The have seating inside and outside. We sat outside and took in the views, beaming sun and slight breeze. The service was slow with only a few servers that seemed to not have assigned tables. We had to frequently hunt them down for everything: ordering, refills, more orders, the bill. Lots of people were trying to hunt down one of therapy moving servers. Our waitress was nice but just all over the place. Now, the food was just amazing. We couldn’t get enough of the enormous plate of nachos. It was done in no time. The jumbo shrimp in creamy garlic sauce mofongo was the best we’ve ever had. The steak topped with chimichirri was tender and full of flavor. We were stuffed and satisfied with our first PR meal. The 2 for 1 mojitos were pretty tasteless though. Needed more sugar. We took the 5 flights of stairs down to avoid the elevator that look like it could snap and minute.

Great pick for dinner in old San Juan. After salivating over the mofongo photos we were sold. Add in some fresh mojitos, rooftop seating and a check-in for a free house shot and we were really sold. Upon walking in there was no host or waitstaff to be found. We waited around for a few, and after no sign of anyone we grabbed an outdoor table. A few minutes later a staff member came over to us and seemed a bit angry about us seating ourselves. It was sort of weird because we waited for a bit and there was no one there to seat us… but whatevs. On to the eats and drinks… Mofongos and mojitos. Can I move to Puerto Rico, seriously? I went with shrimp mofongo and my boyfriend had steak. The plantain cake was perfectly sweet and mushy and came topped with a tangy garlic sauce and several pieces of fresh shrimp. I took a taste of the steak and although it was good, my shrimp was way better. The mojitos were super fresh, and more importantly, super strong. We were debating grabbing an app, but if you are going to tackle your own order of mofongo I’d say that it’s definitely fitting for a dinner. Besides the initial seating snafu, our service all night was great, and I couldn’t have asked for better al fresco dining weather. Some of the restaurants in old SJ seem pretty small and dark, so if you want to eat tasty food in a lovely outdoor setting make this a must do.

I love this place. It’s the third time I’ve eaten here, but the first time since they moved to their new rooftop location. Simply put: nice view, good service, and I’m not sure about all the menu items, but the churrasco is the only thing I order, and it’s to die for. I would order this med-rare and get the Puerto Rican rice with beans. I’m telling you right now, you won’t be sorry. Also, they have great two for one mojitos that aren’t bad.

Let’s see, a rooftop bar with cheap drinks, quality food, mofongo and a great location. Yep, fiver all the way. We prophetically bookmarked this as a «potential first night option next to our hotel» which is exactly how it played out. After a day on planes, it was so nice to sit on the rooftop patio and throw back some mojitos while taking my first dive into the world of mofongo. It was dark up there where we sat, like get the flashlights out for the menus dark. No biggie, I just didn’t get any good pictures to share here. This was my first mofongo and I tried one with chicken and garlic sauce… bomb diggity. I absolutely loved it. My wife had the fish tacos and they were good as well. Service sort of did it’s own thing and we had to get up and ask for things a few times but that’s a lot less worrisome when you’re kicking back on vacation and I didn’t think twice about it. Loved this place and would’ve eaten there twice if we were in Old San Juan longer.

The food was so delicious and beautifully made. A group of 3 girls ordered the pork mofongo, fish tacos and a small nachos and it was more than enough for $ 17 per person(including tip). Two of us got the buy 1 free 1 mojito and we got the apple and the strawberry ones — they were both delicious, but the preferred one was apple(: Service was warm and friendly too!

This place is really cool. On the roof of a small hotel. While waiting for a table we had daiquiris at the bar. They were perfect! The barrel stools were a really nice touch. I liked that you could carry your bar tab over to your table. I had the chicken monfongo. It was delicious. The presentation was gorgeous. I got the garlic sauce but I kind of wished I got the tomatoe sauce. I think it would have added more flavor. We got our free after dinner shots just for checking in on Unilocal(score!).

Wow! What great service! It’s funny because some of these reviews here have nothing to do with food and service.(Elevators and non split checks ???) We randomly found this restaurant while walking around and it was definitely worth it. They had $ 5 pins coladas as well as great mofongo. We had the shrimp and beef one. The whole staff for was very friendly. Will be here again! Thanks again staff

After hearing that Mofongo was the dish to get in PR, we searched for a mofongo restaurant and ended up here. Unfortunately since the cruise lines were all in town, there was a very long line and they had cut off accepting more people to the wait list… We hung around in hopes that there would be no shows and sure enough; 20 minutes later we got a table! Score! The Pina Coladas here are delicious!(Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic!) We ordered various versions of the Mofongo with garlic sauce(steak and pork) and also an entrée of grilled steak. Great service, food was interesting, I can now say I’ve had mofongo! I don’t think it’s my type of food as the plantains were very very heavy and carb loaded but the flavors were pretty good here! This place is located at the top of a hotel, you’d have to take the stairs or take a rickety old elevator that only fits 5 people.

We had sweet plantains, octopus salad, shrimp mofongo, and mojitos. The mofongo comes in a pretty generous size and IMO, it’s enough for two. It’s quite tasty, but after a while, the garlic sauce can be heavy and overwhelming. The octopus is pressure cooked and served with fresh, crisp lettuce and onions. The sauce is mild and can use a bit more lime, but the most important part is that the octopus had such a nice texture. It was tender and far from rubber. Apparently, the sweet plantains are fried, but I couldn’t really tell. They looked baked if you ask me. The plantains have a caramel-like coating and they are tender, sweet, and filling. Although Punta de Vista is in a touristy spot, the food is delicious. This is where my BF fell in love with octopus salad and the reason I crave sweet plantains! Food takes a while to get, but the servers are friendly and they do their best to take care of you. The rooftop view is quite unique and there’s AC! FYI, the mojitos were not only cold and refreshing, but strong! After wandering in the humid streets of Old San Juan, it totally hits the spot. The apple and watermelon mojitos were good, but a tad bit sweet. Next time, we’ll stick to the traditional mojitos!

Wow. I have been to Puerto Rico and Old San Juan in particular more times than I can count. How did I not know about this hidden gem sooner? Reviews boast about the best mofongo around. I can definitely attest to this. The chicken-stuffed mofongo was the best I’ve ever had… and the garlic sauce is to die for. The mojitos(traditional, sexy strawberry, and watermelon) were amazing without being overly sweet. Everything we had was amazing. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The view atop the rooftop of the Hotel Milano Old San Juan(a rarity in and of itself) was great and I enjoyed the charming hightop tables made from barrels. I would highly recommend this place and cannot wait to return. Tip: go before 5pm and you won’t have to deal with a massive wait.

It’s okay. My favorite part of the meal was the nachos: a big bowl of chips covered in cheese sauce and ground beef. I know that description will sound appealing to some people and not to others, but it was in that moment exactly what I was looking for. I also liked the churrasquitos. The carne frita was disappointing, though. Fried meat should be tasty, but here it was way too dried out and almost inedible. The mojitos are also sad… watery and choked with mint that looks past its prime. And the service is painfully slow. Even after they finally brought the check, we eventually gave up on waiting for them and had to go find someone to pay for our food. They have a lot of good reviews, so I don’t know if I just caught them on an off day or what. I don’t think I’ll find out.

Extra star for the rooftop patio bar. This was the second place my husband and I came for a sunset cocktail in Viejo San Juan, the first blows this place out of the water. As a matter if fact had they(Al Fresco) been open Monday, I’d never know there were other establishments in the city. Punto de Vista was actually a recommendation from an enterprising can driver, who told us, «You like Puerto Rican food, there’s a great place on the roof of Hotel Milano, I don’t know the name of it.» I didn’t think the food would really be good, not that a taxista wouldn’t know where to go, I’m sure he does. I’m also equally sure he gets a commission of some kind, but the part about it being on the roof, I thought would be accurate. Sure enough, past the forth floor of guest rooms there’s a bar and connecting patio. The view isn’t great, but next to that of El Murro and Castillo and of course Al Fresco, it’s the best you’re getting(particularly on a Monday, after the historical sites are closed). Punto is specifically targeted to tourists, from the watered down 2 for 1 mojitos, to the top 40 Latin Radio/standard Bob Marley/Jimmy Buffet playlist blasting over the speaker, the enormous portions of food, even the uniform; a garish poly-blend-looking shirt plastered with the Puerto Rican flag and image of a coquí frog, it’s cruise ship fly paper. The food itself consists of ballpark concession stand cheese-sauce covered nachos, and balsamic-drizzled taco roll ups(churrasquitos)WTH is balsamic doing within 100 yards of Puerto Rican food?! Anyway, everything tasted okay, and I got my patio, so mission accomplished. If you’re looking for the same, ignore Punto and any cabbie who says otherwise and visit Al Fresco/Mezzanine/St. Germain!

I came here for lunch with three friends. I can’t eat a regular meal so I just ordered a Caesar salad while my friends ordered a steak mofongo. I was surprised at how good my salad was. The Romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp, there was a generous amount of shaved Parmesan cheese and the dressing was tangy with a hint of anchovies. Meanwhile, my friends just loved their mofongos. They agreed it was much better than the ones they had at another restaurant. There was a generous amount of steak and the garlic sauce was just the right touch. This restaurant is a wonderful find.

I had the mofongo at Punta de Vista almost 3 years ago, and I still have dreams about it. That garlic sauce is literally perfection. I had 5 different mofongos while I was in Puerto Rico and none of them came close to this one. The cheap drinks only add to an already amazing experience. If you only eat at one restaurant in San Juan, make sure it’s this one.

Probably one of my favorite restaurants in Puerto Rico! If you are debating on going to this place, just stop reading now, and go. One of my favorite things about this place, is that it’s a roof-top restaurant/bar. On a nice evening, nothing is better than sitting outside on the roof with a view of Old San Juan with the smell of the ocean in the air with a light ocean breeze. The food is phenomenal. We went to many different restaurants in search of the best Mofongo. The sauce that goes with this really brings it all together. Highly recommend. We also had a some fish tacos which were delicious as well. The sauce that accompanies the tacos was delicious! What a great pair! Their drinks were just as I had expected from the reviews and did not dissapoint. Great flavor and the bartender had some great suggestions. The restaurant is located in the old hotel on the top floor. It really is in a strange location, and if it weren’t for Unilocal,I would have missed this place. When you walk in the main lobby you can walk straight back to the elevator or take the stairs. It is a small elevator, so if you have claustrophobia, i would suggest taking the stairs. :) We will be back!

I love the ambiance at Punta de Vista. It’s seated at the top of Hotel Milano on Calle de la Fortaleza and outdoor seating is perfect at night(when it’s not too hot). It’s not easy to find. When looking for it, I usually look up for this tall red-orangish metal fence on the west side of the building, during the day or blue string lights at night. This place isn’t exactly handicap accessible. The easiest way up is to take the elevator to the top floor, then take a flight of stairs to the restaurant. Personally, I think this place has one of the better mofongo dishes; however, this time around I just wanted something simple, Carne Frita and Rice. My wife had the chicken mofongo and really enjoyed it. It’s safe to say that this place is one of my favorite restaurants in Old San Juan. If I could, I’d give this place 3.5 stars. I hate to give it anything less than 4 stars, but there’s two reasons why I did. I had to ask three times for a glass of water, I eventually got up to go to the bar myself to get water. I’ll add, in the past, service was sub-par(not all the time, though). Secondly, they don’t have the ability to split checks. They can split it evenly amongst credit cards, but it’s still inconvenient if you’re with a large group. I feel as we’re nearing 2016, it should be fairly standard to be able to split checks.

Great service! They were so attentive and nice. Their nachos? If you like whiz cheese as much as I like it then it was perfect. Literally cheese soaked nachos. Must get item: their mofongo stuffed skirt steak with creamy garlic! It was delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. White sangria didn’t have the typical fruit it in it but it was good. It wasn’t overly sweet and had just the right amount of alcohol. Great setting, good food, good people. Can’t ask for more.

Definitely more of a bar than a nice sit-down restaurant. They have some good drink specials and a lot of food that appeals to tourist. Mofango was better than most, but the fish tacos were a bit disappointing — too much sour cream and too little fish. Overall, food was decent but overpriced and underwhelming for Puerto Rico.

This is our favorite restaurant in San Juan. We have gone here three times this year, every time we visit Puerto Rico. Here are the reasons I love this place. 1– the people who work here are very nice and genuine. Isabel and Marcos are the most friendly people. There are no language barriers because the waitstaff is fluent in English, but the food coming out of the kitchen is authentic and delicious. 2– the food is consistently good and the presentation is beautiful. We love the Mofongo with the garlic sauce. One of us gets it every time and we are never disappointed. 3– location, location, location. This restaurant is at the top of a hotel in Old San Juan with an outdoor seating area and views of Fort San Cristobal and the ships in port. It is easy to find on Calle Fortaleza, a major shopping street. Counting the 13 months until we visit again!

I’m so glad I found this place on Unilocal, because I probably would not have dined here otherwise. My husband and I were greeted outside by an employee trying to get tourists to go check out the restaurant. This is usually a red flag for me but I trusted the Unilocal-verse. It turned out that it was helpful to have him out there as he gave directions to the dining area: through the hotel, take elevator to 4th floor, then up a flight of stairs to the roof. The hotel had a really weird smell as we were walking through: like sour paint. Gross. But still I persisted, knowing I was going to have a good meal. The dining area is really neat: An outdoor rooftop deck and indoor seating area with great views. We happened upon happy hour which featured buy one get one free mojitos, so that was an extra special bonus. They were good mojitos too! We ordered a lot of food. So much so, that our server gave us a disclaimer. She actually said, «Disclaimer, just so you know, you ordered a lot of food.» Ha! Our stomachs are bottomless, lady. For our first course we had Churraquitos(skirt steak soft tacos with a sweet sauce) and yuca fries. The Churraquitos were delightful and flavored perfectly. The yuca fries were the best yuca fries I’ve ever eaten. The amount of grease on them probably had something to do with that. For the main courses, I ordered the chicken mofongo with garlic cream sauce and my husband got fried pork. My mofongo was extremely delicious. It was also extremely garlicky. I love garlic, so this pleased me. My husband’s fried pork was okay, but I definitely made the better dinner selection. So go with the mofongo. Go with the garlic sauce. Go with someone who doesn’t mind you’ll smell like garlic for the rest of the day/night. We finished up the meal with free«vacation shots» for checking in with Unilocal.Overall, a delicious dinner! Thanks again, Unilocal
