Lou Lou

Wow! Why didn’t I go here before? I’ve known this restaurant for a year but never for some mysterious reason never stepped inside.
So now was finally the night. We were hungry and decided on Lou Lou. Seeing the pictures on Unilocal I knew the interior would be very cool! And indeed it is!
Being a week day night it was no problem getting a table. We were warmly welcomed. Mandatory coat check but no fee.
It has this industrial decoration with lots of cool sayings and pictures painted on the walls — especially in the loo (s). Choose the toilet door to the very left!
Guests seems to be in their 20’s early 30’s, but not in a disturbing «I feel like grandma”-way ;) Staff is super friendly, no disturbing waiting time, maybe they could have been a little more attentive though, it was not full and the staff wasn’t too buzy.
Good variety on the menu. We had chili and pata negra — both dishes were delicious! I find the price reasonable for the amount and quality you get. Beautifully presented, which I (to be honest) didn’t expect — shame on me! Delish desserts as well. Share one if you are full but still want something sweet. The only thing I find negative is the range and type of beer. I get it, it is an American place — so only lagers, but there are plenty of great American none-​lager beer as well — and why choose Italian Peroni???
Go for Grolsch on tap — perfectly OK.
Well, I can’t wait to go here again. Next time maybe a drink in the back of the room in the bar. Super cool bar.

Probably the coolest restaurant in Gothenburg. Seriously.
We were looking for a place called ‘Bliss.’ Google said it was right here. But we didn’t see it. We were all hungry and we said «F*ck it, we’ll just eat here.» Turns out, this place USED to be Bliss. Thanks Lonely Planet for not being up to date…
Anyway, not sure how much the new owners changed things but this place was unbelievable. Lou Lou masquerades as an American restaurant, but it’s got its own twist. To be very honest, the food is probably at a 4-​star range. It was all very good, but what particularly blew me away was the atmosphere. We sat outside where it was a lovely setting on a nice evening, but when I went in to go use the restrooms, I was in awe.
The art on the walls were spectacular. When I finally reached the bathroom, I couldn’t resist. Pictures must be taken in this bathroom so you can show the rest of the world how cool this bathroom was. Whoever’s in charge of the mayhem in the bathroom had to be on drugs or something because it is pure genius. Motivational quotes, life quotes, chuck norris jokes… it’s all there and it’s all awesome. Oh, and no mirror either because «you look fine.»

Cute little place in the heart of Gothenburg. Kinda hidden on «magasingatan» which means street, which gives it a charm. Close to other restaurants and cafeterias.
Food was good and tender, my friends choose the New York steak while I went at it with the BBQ ribs. Both were very good choices.
For desert I had the lime cheesecake, and some tea.
The young girl (shorter) with a souther Swedish accent was more than polite and helpful so we gave her a few kroner of tip.
Deff worth a try!
