Barista are one of the numerous smaller chains trying to compete with the dominant Espresso House chain in Sweden. They are distinguishing themselves by also giving the chance for you as a customer to support different projects in the developing world based on what you buy here. The offering of food is pretty decent but in my view is still not as good as Espresso House and while they use relatively good coffee beans(from Johan&Nyström) they do not have the same focus on the staff so execution is often shaky. This location next to Triangeln Station in Malmö seem to suffer a lot from poor staff. Service is almost always disinterested and it is clear that coffee is not really their thing — last time one of the persons working there even asked me if I wanted a shot of espresso in my filter coffee ‘to make it taste more like real coffee’. Politely declined but says a lot of how much they care and/or know. The big question then: why do I still come here? First while they are not as good as Espresso House, they are still way better than other chains. Second they open at 7.00 am so when I am in Malmö before other places have opened it is the best bet and it is also on the way between our office and the station. So nota glowing endorsement but it is sometimes the best option.

We stopped here for caffe lattes and a chocolate muffin. We also used the time to write our postcards which bought across the street. Staff a s courteous. The lattes above average size and we’ll made. The muffin moist. The atmosphere pleaaant.

Ich liebe dieses chillige Café!!! Der Kaffee ist hervorragend, die Süßigkeiten vortrefflich und das Ambiente mit den mit grünen Teppichen«begrünten» Wändern spricht mich einfach an.

Great intentions with fairtrade coffee, and the coffee is ok. Unfortunately the coffee shop has a lot more to ask. It is loud, mimicking the big chains and the staff often seem tired.

In the busy streets of Stortorget, you will be met by several cafes, one of them, is Barista. In the summer, the air is salty, fresh and positive. In the autumn cool and cosy. Winter, which is the season above us at the moment, has turned this area into a pearly white landscape. Barista fair trade coffee is one of my favourite cosy landmarks. Its seating outside is beyond delicious in the summer and autumn season. In the winter season I strongly advise you to stay inside, you won’t regret it. The inside seating is soooo comfortable. I simply LOVEIT. The service is alright. Depends on your luck. This one has a very ‘unsure/innocent’ kind of feel to it. Once, my friend and I stayed there until closing time. The barista offered us a couple of free pastries, on the house too. That is what I call service. The prices are manageable. A bit pricy for the humble student, however affordable once or twice a month. Their food is EXPENSIVE. Their cheesecakes YUMMY and for about 35, — SEK. If one has a student card then USEIT. you get 10 percent off everything. One can sit there for hours and no one says anything.
