This is a great place to eat sushi in Malmö. I can be very untrusting of sushi places abroad so it was a pleasant find. Hai serves up great traditional sushi offerings with a few specialties. Good environment, indoor and outdoor seating, parking area in front, and near the famous walking strip mall area in Malmö. Take a look at the Red Dragon roll.

On paper Hai must be considered one of the most promising Japanese restaurants in Malmö. The large menu offers a great variety and selection of dishes that look appealing, exciting and interesting however the way the kitchen executes the dishes is such a let down. In our chase for the best sushi in Malmö we came across Hai. A place that looked to have all the elements necessary to be among the main contenders but surprisingly as well as sadly came up very short. What is perfect and promising here is the ambiance, the settings, the area, the menu and the creativity. What make is a let down is the kitchen under-performing in terms of quality control and«know how» as well as the inattentive service staff. At the time of our visit the fish was not as fresh as it should have been, nor had it the right temperature. Regardless of how hot it is outside the fish, in this case uneven cuts of it, should not be hotter than a normal room temperature! The rice was overcooked and bland meaning not enough vinegared. The Unagi nigiri was chewy and somewhat rough meaning either it was not lightly seared or as fresh as it should have been. We all tend to agree it was not lightly seared due the fact that the seared tuna nigiri also looked more blackened than seared. In order to get some water to the table as well as ordering a coke we had to call upon the staff 3 times and the beverages were not even served to the table at the same time. Sadly the overall experience became even worse considering the prices Hai asks its costumers to pay.

Its one of the better places for sushi in Malmö, especially if you are a larger croud(large restaurant and nice environment). The facility looks good with ambient lighting and wooden chairs. The bathroom is clean. They dont have much of a Beer-selection. Crappy main-stream swedish beer on draft, but japanese beer in bottles — Asahi and Kirin Ichiban. Around 60 – 70SEK/Beer. The sushi and fish/rice ratio is good. A 60 pcs sushi(of which ½ are small rolls) costs 600 sek, which is acceptable due to the fish/rice ratio. I question some of the sushi pieces — you know the ones they put in to «enlarger» the sushi(i.e. cucumber-roll). Menu: The service is below average, and I got the feel that they are not very service-minded. So keep your choices easy and clear. Summary + good for larger crouds + good sushi/rice ratio — service — bad beer on tap

Best sushi in Malmö hands down. The fish is always fresh, beautifully prepared and always nice staff. Must go if you’re a sushi lover.

This is an excellent sushi bar in the middle of town but on a side street so the outdoor seating area is quiet and cozy even though it’s directly on to the street. They serve several types of sushi as well as one or two cooked dishes. Recommended for the large sushi selection.
