I have not been impressed with most of what I’ve eaten in Baden, Switzerland — but my experience at Rebstock was an exception. My co-workers and I stopped by for dinner with no reservations. Three of us ordered the Rebstocksalat(salad with a lighter creamy Italian-style dressing) and Lammcurry mit Basmathireis und Roti(lamb curry with basmati rice and roti flatbread). I had decided on the curry due to having briefly met with the Sri Lankan chef, who convinced me he was for real. The lamb is sourced from New Zealand, and was very tender, yet had a terrific bold flavor. The curry sauce was adequately hot with a well-balanced spice profile. This was an unusually delicious curry dish for Switzerland. The salad was standard, and not something I’d rave about. The fourth member of our group ordered the Cordon Bleu mit Pommes and was happy with his dish. Service staff was friendly, and food came out fast(by Swiss standards). We ate outside on a beautiful evening in the center of Baden. A good overall experience and well-priced for the area. Please note that Rebstock’s credit card machine does not accept regular credit cards — you need to use one with a chip in it(fortunately, I had one of these on me).
