The breakfast is quite good, with the variety one would expect. I am very disappointed by the quality of service though. Soon after I sat down, the waitress came to pour regular coffee for me without asking what I would like. I asked for decaf coffee instead. I got decaf coffee after a while, but it is very concentrated. I asked for hot water and milk. It did not come for quite a while. There were about 4 – 5 waitress working in the area. I asked a waitress when I got up to get fruits. She asked me to just sit down and wait. I finally got hot water, still no milk. When I am more than half way through my breakfast. I got up to ask for milk again, this time the waitress I asked told me to get it from cereal bar myself. So, I brought my coffee mug there to get milk. It is really annoying to have to get up to fill my coffee cup with milk, especially seeing the guy next to me has milk on his table. I finally asked for milk to bring to my table one more time, and waited there for 5 – 8 more minutes. I simply did not have time to wait for milk any more. After I finished my breakfast, I got up with an empty mug on my table to fetch more milk. Just as I was back to my table, milk was finally brought to my table. The trouble I had to go through to get milk for coffee ruined my experience in this reputable hotel.

This is the restaurant in the Swissotel, so this is the place for breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet style but you can also order an omelette. However, if you want something like that, you order at your table rather than up at the chef station. Slightly different system them back home, but we got our food. It consists of the main dining area and then there is a small room off to the side for overflow on a crowded morning. There is also outdoor seating available BUT smoking is still a big problem all over Europe, so if you can tolerate smoke while you are trying to eat, have at it. Staff was very friendly and they all spoke English. One of the staff even came over to talk to us while we were all waiting at the tram stop. There are other mom and pop places around the hotel, but we knew the food was good here. Also, be aware, that most places stop serving food between 2 and 4 or 5, so you have to ask what time the kitchen opens.

This is not a «destination» restaurant but it’s surprisingly better than most hotel restaurants. The breakfast spread was decent and part of the hotel package we had. We had one dinner and they were able to accommodate my request that wasn’t on the menu — a baked potato and sauteed spinach.
