For good Italian food with great service and casual dining ambiance at very reasonable price, Roma gets 5 stars. I loved the complimentary basket of bread balls(soft pizza crust in a ball shape) and italian speaking super friendly server(speaks a little German and english). I had grilled squid which came out surprisingly big portion and side of pasta and this pasta convinced me to try the main pasta dish next time. It was great. Overall, highly recommend for date or business meal. PS: a glass wine was 5 – 5.50CHF(cheaper than most restaurants)

Delicious pizza. Have had pizza for dinner here during two of my three nights in town. Cheese the first night, then the spicy salami the second night. If you like pepperoni you will love the spicy salami.

I always find eating in foreign countries on the first day a little bit stressful — after travelling(even a short distance) with the pressure of catching a flight and finding your way to your hotel, the last thing I want to do is wrestle with a non-English menu with unfamiliar foods. Happy to do that for the rest of the visit, but not that first night. So I was happy to see this Italian place as we passed by on the tram, having noticed it on Unilocal already. So we stopped in and I’m glad we did. It’s not fancy but it was relatively busy on a Thursday night at 8pm. The menu is quite extensive but not daunting. After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided I wasn’t all that hungry and just went for a margherita pizza. It was surprisingly tasty, with a good quality sauce, a sprinkling of dried herbs, and thin crust that held up well. Despite only having 2 pizzas and 2 cokes, our bill was still around 45CHF — but from what I can tell, this isn’t out of the ordinary for Switzerland.

I’m always pleased when I travel to a new country and Unilocal helps me find somewhere decent to eat(and of course to avoid the tourist traps). This was one of those occasions — as we were heading down to the Christmas market on the tram, we spotted it out the window on our first day in the country. I thought I had spotted it on Unilocal previously and after checking on my phone, I had indeed bookmarked it. It was lovely and warm in the restaurant and the waitress was friendly although didn’t speak much in the way of English, but understood enough that we got around any difficulties. I had the Quatro something-something pizza, which had mushrooms, ham, artichokes and sausage. But the real star of the meal was my wife’s margherita pizza. Now considering that we’ve eaten at the restaurant in Naples which invented the thing, I hope we can have a decent comparison. The thing is — Roma’s version was better. The base was more solid and the cheese/herb blend was perfect(although I suspect the Italians would scoff at the fact herbs was on it, but it made it better). It was just frankly, perfectly cooked. It just goes to show that sometimes simplicity is the thing.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Caprese salad was delicious. The homemade lasagne was made with fresh tomatoes, bolognese, thinly sliced ham and probably fresh noodles. The top cheese layer was melted and browned perfectly. I enjoyed(vodka free) lemon sorbet afterwards. There was a healthy flow of locals into the restaurant which suggests that it is more than a tourist restaurant. Very glad to have tried this restaurant. I highly recommend it.

Delicious food. My favorite saltimbocca in town. Great pizza as well. Friendly staff. The owner will pass around limoncello after dinner. Make sure you make a reservation. Always crowded. Great to have dinner with a group of people too like Christmas dinner with co workers or family.

This restaurant/pizzeria is one of the best italians in Basel town. During lunch time it’s advised to have a reservation as this restaurant is always crowded. Or you come early. All the dished i have tried were excellent. Which is reflected in the prices, if you are not going for a pizza. Don’t forget to check out the dishes of the day.
