Altes Tramdepot

Sehr schlechter Service. Wir mussten einen Platz auf der Terrasse selber trocknen. Danach wurde uns mitgeteilt dass im Aussenbereich nicht bedient wird. Dies obwohl unzählige Kunden etwas essen wollten.

Das Bier ist hier echt der Hammer! Speziell die Saisonbiere muss man probieren! Preis ist für die Schweiz

Stets tolle Atmosphäre, das vor Ort gebraute Tramdepotbier ist ein must. Leider oft sehr gut gefüllt und eher teuer.

Wir haben dort einen Burger gegessen, als Beilage Pommes, für 28,50 CHF ganz schön happig aber für CH Verhältnisse wohl vollkommen in «Normal»!
Pommes sehr lecker und vor allem eine Riesen Portion!
Die Frikadelle war ein wenig zu stakt gewürzt, da habe ich schon mal deutlich bessere Burger gegessen!
Aussicht ist natürlich sehr klasse!
Man kann hier mal einkehren aber ein zweites Mal verschlägt es mich dann wohl woanders hin!

Young and young at heart audience, have a go — enjoy the food and quality time with friends or family. A sure recommendation when you are in Bern, Switzerland!

When in Bern, friends of ours invited us to «Altes Tramdepot» and it did not disappoint. Plenty of things to choose from and most importantly lots of typically Swiss food and drinks. We had a couple of different beers to try and for the food we went for the typical «Spaetzle», a Bern platter and I had the «wild boar ragout». All the food came in a very reasonable time and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is typical for a Beer garden; huge, loud and fun. The staff seemed to be very friendly and did accommodate 10 of us in a very reasonable time. Even if you have to wait, you’re not bored. Just outside the restaurant there’s the «Baerengraben» and if you’re lucky you might spot some bears during the day. If you have to wait for longer, walk up the lookout just behind the restaurant and you have a wonderful view over Bern City!

Just left… wonderful place, great young staff spoke perfect English. They were open at 4 PM or before… thank you… got very busy as we left.

I enjoyed this place a lot. I am not a hardcore fan of this type of food, nor am I that familiar with it, so for me to be reasonably satisfied with what I got, it was a good experience. The beer is awesome, clearly, and available in several sizes.

Great place to try some solid local beers and food. Nice atmosphere and service. Many seating options: inside, outside, or at the bar. This time ’round I ordered the three beer sampler and the ‘tram depot’ salad; it was a just-​right portion size. My co-​diners both ordered the weiss wurst (considered a ‘bier snack’) which comes w/​a pretzel or sauerkraut.
Its a but pricey & touristy here as its located next to the Bern bear pits, but the food, service, and beer are worth a visit.

Gute Lage direkt am Bärengraben mit Terrasse, ideal im Sommer. Grosses Angebot an Bieren. Feines Essen — Cordon Bleu. Allerdings fast immer voll und eher teuer.

While the food was fine (sausage and rusti), I had to wait 1 whole hour in an almost empty restaurant for it! Then I got some half-​ass excuse that it takes time to cook both sides of the sausage properly. Very pathetic.
The view outside is great, and so if you are in a group it must be more fun, but on your own. try another place.

Our first dinner while on our short stay in Bern. I bookmarked this place not knowing it was connected to the tourist center. This discovery made me nervous it wouldn’t be very good, but these fears were put to ease. The ambiance inside is very hip, an old train station with good lighting and a great patio if the weather is nice, which it was unfortunately not during our travels. Our server was very friendly and humorous and spoke English well. We split the pretzel with butter, the rosti with bacon and apple sauce, and the spatzi with bacon. The pretzel is a pass for me, it was a bit dense, not light and chewy like I look for in a good pretzel. Rather than coming basted in clarified butter as I expected a to-​go tab of butter was provided with the unsalted pretzel. Meh. The rosti was good, my wife said it reminder her more of a breakfast dish. The bacon was soft, which was different. The spatzi is basically the Swiss version of mac and cheese, let’s be honest. It came with a sh*t ton of bacon and cheese. Dare I say it… too much bacon? I do not! But I may have had the thought. I also had the sampler of three beers, my faves were the wiezen and marzen. 3 good sized samples around $ 10 F, good deal. They also sell by the liter and small kegs, jussssst an FYI.

Perfeito restaurante com vista pra cidade de Berna, comida deliciosa e um preço justo, coisa difícil de achar na Suíça, onde os preços são os mais caros da Europa.

Sonntagabend sind viele Lokale geschlossen hier. Nicht so das Tramdepot.

Das alte Tramdepot war einmal genau das was der Name aussagt. Heute ist es ein sehr lebendiges, trendiges Restaurant mit Bar und eigener Brauerei. Es ist ein Treffpunkt für das Feierabendbier, das ungezwungene Nachtessen im Sommer auf der Terrasse und für unzählige Touristen zu Mittag. Speziell zu empfehlen sind die verschiedenen Röstis und das eigene Bier. Der Service ist schnell und freundlich, die Küche ist solide, die Preise fair und die Portionen gross. Man kann das alte Tramdepot als gelungenes Unikat an einem Touristenhotspot von Bern bezeichnen.

Schönes Lokal mit gutem selbstgebrautem Bier und währschafter Küche. Die Speisenkarte reicht von Weisswürsten mit Brezeln über Rösti bis hin zu Spätzli oder Cordon bleue. Immer sehr gut besetzt. Habe dort bisher nur gute Erfahrungen gemacht. Sehr empfehlenswert!

We stopped in for a drink on rainy day and this place was perfect! Great ambience, service, and beer!
I had the beer sampler and was expecting little 4 oz samples like how it comes in most places in America! However they were about 8 oz each and you could pick any three to sample! The waiter was very helpful in suggesting which ones to pick! They were all great!
I would definitely recommend this place!

Sehr nettes Bierlokal, im Sommer mit Sonnenterasse, wo bis spät die Sonne hin scheint. Selbstgebrautes Bier, stetig wechselnde Spezialbierangebote und gutes Essen machen das Tramdepot zum Erholungshotspot. Daneben der Bärenpark ist ebenfalls eines Blickes würdig. Great place to hang out with friends and family during a sunny afternoon! We were visiting Bern for the day and walked around the beautiful city until mid afternoon. When we reached the bear park and saw this place we immediately decided to get a table outside and try their beer. It is super cool that you can see the brewery in the lower level, and the view of the city is breathtaking. The service was very friendly and the food very good as well. Have the cheese and hams selection and definitely try the beers!

This is a great place located just east of the river and the old town in Bern.
Unfortunately I didn’t order their Bavarian sausage, sweet mustard, and pretzel… I’ll make sure to do that next time. However, what I did eat was quite delicious.
They have a number of house made beers. I tried their small (2dl) Helles for 3.60chf. It was tasty. For lunch I ordered their Wok daily special (25 chf) — shrimp with green curry sauce, vegetables and rice. I asked if they could sub noodles for rice, and although our waitress was really busy, she went out of her way to make sure it was possible, and happily did it. The shrimp were yummy, and the green curry was different but tasty.
My friends ordered the cordon bleu (29.50 chf) and Kalbsgeschnetzeltes (typical Zurich dish 35 chf). They both really liked theirs.
The prices were kind of high, but nothing too unusual. I liked that they had not only typical Swiss dishes, but also international dishes, like mine. The food came quickly, and although they were busy, they accommodated us quite well.
We sat outside and had a nice view. There is a lot of seating inside and out, but it can get really busy.

Ich komme hier sehr gerne hin und immer, wenn ich Besuch aus Deutschland habe, ist der Besuch im Tramdepot ein Muss.
Leider ist der Barbereich recht klein und bedingt durch die Popularität der Lokation meist brechend voll. Hinzu kommt, dass der hintere Teil des Depots für das Restaurant und bleibt somit für den Barbetrieb versperrt — auch, wenn die Bar aus allen Nähten platzt. Da ist sicher noch Verbesserungspotential ;)
Das Essen ist rustikal, schweizerisch Lokal und sehr sehr gut. Die Kellner aufmerksam und fix. Die offene Küche unterstützt den Eindruck von frischen Gerichten und zeigt die Köche und Helfer organisiert Beschäftigt.
Das Tramdepot ist eine solide und angehme Gastronomie, die zum Wiederkommen einläd.

Alteeingesessen ist die Brauerei/​Restaurant «Altes Tramdepot» nicht nur dem berner Stadtkind ein Begriff für gutes Bier und ausserordentliche schweizer Küche.
Um dem Ruf als «lukullischer Lusttempel» weiterhin gerecht zu werden, haben sie vor einiger Zeit angefangen Veranstaltungen zu verschiedensten Themen anzubieten; darunter selbstredend Verkostungen verschiedenster Art: «Weindestillate», «The World Of Whisky», «Bierplausch», um nur einzelne zu nennen.

If I ever visit Bern again, this is the place where I want to eat.
It has the greatest food. I ate my platter and wanted to eat my friends plate aswell. It was all delicious. Too bad I only found out about it on the last day.
It has that student-​bar type of feeling, but the food is high class.
I recommend it to everyone.

Well, normally I really, really like this place. But last night I went here for drinks and the wait staff were SO rude. It was very off putting. We came in and no one greeted us; or showed us where to sit. So we just assumed it was self seating (on this quite Monday evening).so we found a table and started chatting. When the waiter finally arrived he didn’t bring menus. we had to ask. And he took our drinks order. And then informed us that «if you won’t be eating you can’t sit here!».I mean it was quiet and there were loads of empty tables. I couldn’t see why we had to move from that table exactly. So I said, we’ll finish our drinks and then move to the back. where he said we were basically relegated to. He said «OK», so we started chatting and drinking and relaxing. And 5 min later he came back all in a huff and said «You have to move now, the table is needed!». I mean there was so many free tables it was ridiculous that they needed THAT EXACT table. So we moved to the back where its all self service and the exact same price. Although, at this point I would rather take the self service then have to deal with anymore of their rude staff.

Als wir kürzlich in Bern waren und natürlich den neuen Bärengraben anschauen mussten, haben wir im Alten Tramdepot getafelt.
Gute Biere, herzhaftes Brauer-​Essen und viele Touristen erwarten einen. Das Essen, wir hatten das Roastbeef mit Salat und Fries war äusserst lecker. Die Preise sind auch okay, vorallem wenn man sich fürs Menü entscheidet.
Einziges Manko: Es ist halt ein Tourist Spot.

A microbrewery with the best beer I’ve ever tasted. Good food at good prices. A variety of choices including Roesti, Bavarian sausages, stir fries and salads. If you are in Bern stop there.

Das Tramdepot als unterhaltsamer Touristentreffpunkt ist sicher empfehlensert. Ebenso die grandiose Aussicht auf die Berner Altstadt. Es herrscht Biergartenatmosphäre und das ist auch stimming zum Lokal. Das Essen ist solala und wer keine grossen Ansprüche hat und einfach lustig eins trinken gehen will, der ist im Tramdepot richtig. Gourmetessen gibts hier aber nicht.

Ich kann mich meinen Vorgängern nur anschließen!

Nettes Konzept und angenehme Atmosphäre ind dieser zur Gasthofbrauerei umgebauten alten Tram-​Remise. Service gut und die Preise in Ordnung. Qualität top!

Für Bierliebhaber ein Must. Den nötigen Boden für das Fässchen auf dem Tisch kann man sich bei deftiger Brauhauskost aneignen.
Wunderschöné Aussicht auf die Aare und den Bärengraben. An schönen Tagen ist kaum ein freier Platz zu finden.

This restaurant also brew their own beers. I tried a sampler of their beers (Tram-​Helles, Tram-​Märzen, and Tram-​Weizen) and also ordered their specialty dish — Bavarian sausages, sweet mustard & pretzel. The Bavarian sausages were so juicy and and the pretzel was so warm and perfect.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been here and I’m still yearning for something similar to their food here.
Until we meet again, the search for those yummy Bavarian sausages and pretzel continues…

Super Brauerei mit schönem Garten, toller Aussicht und gutem Essen. Direkt am Bärengraben und in Laufdistanz von der Altstadt.

Berner Restaurant-​Institution mit saisonal wechselnder internationaler Küche an Top Location mit Blick auf den Bärenpark. Unter Touristen und Einheimischen gleichermassen beliebt, nicht zuletzt wegen des selbst gebrauten Bieres, das in drei verschiedenen Brauarten (Hell, Märzen, Weizen) angeboten wird. Für die private Grillparty kann man den gerstensaft auch in verschieden grossen Partyfässern bestellen. Die Preise für Speisen und Getränken sind etwas überdurchschnittlich, hier zahlt man die Panoramaansicht auf die Berner Altstadt mit. Dennoch eine der ersten Adressen für gutes Essen in schöner Umgebung. Reservation nicht vergessen (auch werktags)!
Das Tram-​Depot bietet zudem Brauerei-​Besichtigungen und Seminare (Bier selber brauen, Whiskyverköstigungen etc.) an. Für Touristen praktisch: die Touristeninformation befindet sich direkt im Gebäude.
Mein Tipp: Tram-​Burger mit einem kühlen Hellen.

Das Bier hier schmeckt. Das Essen ist gut bürgerliche Küche. Das Osterbier (oder so ähnlich) schmeckte ebenfalls sehr gut. Für eine kurze weile gab es eine schwedische Spezialitätenkarte — leider waren die Preise da eher hoch, sonst hätte ich gerne was davon genommen. Für die Salatesser unter euch gibts hier auch grosse Salatschüsseln (ich bin eher ein «Fleischtiger»).
Ich gebe dem alten Tramdepot 3.5 Sterne.

Nice food and good beer. Very good for medium or larger groups. The food is a bit pricey but it is worth it.

Die Brasserie zählt für mich zu den nettesten Orten in Bern, am liebsten bin ich abends auf ein Bier dort. Da das selbstgebraute aber so gut schmeckt, bleibt es nicht dabei. So kann man hier mit Freunden nett plaudern, das Ambiente und die Atmosphäre haben einen ganz eigenen Charakter. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und besitz Charme und Witz.
Das Essen hat mich nicht überzeugt, wie es so schön heißt, es gab nichts zu meckern, aber auch nichts zu loben.

La meilleure bière de Berne selon les Bernois qui apprécient également qu’elle soit brassée directement derrière le comptoir de ce restaurant, à deux pas du Bärengraben, la fosse aux ours où sont exposés depuis le Moyen Âge les plantigrades symboles de la puissance de la capitale helvète.
La salle de restaurant est également très agréable, installée dans un style brasserie bienvenu à l’emplacement d’un ancien dépot de tramway, avec ses plafonds hauts et ses baies vitrées donnant sur l’Aare en contrebas, et sur la ville haute sur l’autre rive.
En été, la terrasse est l’endroit idéal pour déjeuner ou profiter d’une bière maison dans un cadre bucolique. Les plats proposés sont généreux (c’est une habitude en Suisse Alémanique) et suffisament variés pour satisfaire tous les appétits. Malgré l’affluence, le service est toujours souriant et l’accueil de qualité.
