Al Dar

Delicious lebanese food just like in Lebanon. Very nice decoration! Little terrace for summer time. And there fattouche salad is the best ever! I always enjoy eating there! If you drink wine, take this opportunity to try the lebanese wines, they are amazing!

Als ich das Hotel mal in einer anderen Ecke von Genf hatte, war es wieder mal Zeit mittels Unilocal das passende Lokal auszusuchen. Und ich wurde auch dieses mal nicht enttäuscht, den Unilocal führte mich ins Al Dar.
Das Lokal ist stimmig eingerichtet, es hat teelichter auf jedem Tisch, die Atmosphäre ist angenehm. Leicht fernöstlich, aber nicht zu übertrieben. Man spürt die andere Kultur, wird aber nicht von ihr zugepflastert. Das hat mir sehr zugesagt. Auch die grösse des lokals ist angenehm klein. Das hier ist kein mainstream.
Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, erklärt gerne die verschiedenen Speisen auf der Karte und war schnell und speditiv. Das gilt übrigens auch für die Küche welche mein Essen innert 10 Minuten auf meinen Tisch zauberte. Das Lokal war auch nur halb voll, aber ich denke nicht dass ich bei vollbetrieb viel länger hätte warten müssen.
Ich habe mich für die «Assiette» — also eine zusammengestellte Platte — entschieden. Da bekommt man für CHF 28.- 8 verschiedene Mezze serviert. Ideal für Entdecker oder solche die sich nicht entscheiden können. Was genau dabei ist, erklärt der Kellner gerne. Ebenfalls positiv: es wird nicht an Fladenbrot gespart. Dies kriegt man kostenlos auf den Tisch gestellt — und zwar in ausreichenden Mengen. Das finde ich immer peinlich wenn restaurants hierbei kleinlich sind und er Gast mehrfach nachbestellen muss. Das Essen hat dann auch ausgezeichnet geschmeckt. Ich komme wieder.

Went here for lunch today with a couple of colleagues. I had heard great things about this place for awhile from other coworkers in the office, and finally got around to trying it out. We made reservations in advance, as this place always gets a bit busy at lunch time. While the main menu items are a bit pricey, they have a great Plat Du Jour during the week for only 19 CHF which includes a starter and a main course, which is quite a good deal. Everyone took the plat du jour, with lentil soup, and beef brochettes. The lentil soup came with fresh yummy pita bread (no stale bread served here), and the lentil soup was some of the best I have had in Switzerland. The main dish was also good, but my favourite was the soup. The space is small, but well decorated, and bright. The service was friendly, and the server even spoke some English. I couldn’t help but notice the other dishes being delivered to other tables and wishing that I had three stomachs to try a bit of everything, as it all looked so good. I definitely hope that in my future horoscope (not to far in the distant future) is a return visit to Al Dar.

This is one of my favourite places in Geneva. Although it’s not cheap, it’s definitely good value. The mezzes are great and so are all of their meat dishes. They are also really accommodating for events — we’ve done birthday’s there and it’s always a pleasure!
