We were lured by their lovely terrace on a Saturday afternoon. I was famished so we asked if we could order food and they said the only thing they could prepare at that time was a salad. They fixed us two green salads with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, olives and feta cheese. We also ordered two glasses of orange juice. Orange juice was super fresh, salad was nice but literally nothing you couldn’t make out of the ingredients in your pantry. When we asked to pay and were told the price, I experienced my first sticker price shock since moving to Geneva from New York: twenty-four francs for a salad!!! I will be haunted by that salad and this spot forever. Bienvenue à Genève et au revoir to ordering any more crazily-priced salads in this city!

I really like this place. There are not a lot of solid affordable options for food on this side of the Plainpalais area. The food is excellent, especially the burger and the omelets. The only negative is that the menu is limited and does not change that often. That said, I have eaten here about 6 times and everything is consistently good. Oh, and the desserts are fresh and outstanding. The interior looks like an antique store, and I mean that in the best way possible. Apparently all the furniture and decorative items are for sale. Ask the owner or staff and they’ll give you a price for anything in the restaurant. Seriously, I think you can even buy the plates and forks.

Such a lovely place for an afternoon tea with friends! They have tasty pies! I had a pear and almod pie and I loved it!

This is defintiely a hidden gem in town. Perfect for intimate and also romantic dinners. The menu changes according the season which is perfect! The food is always great and the service too! You feel like home! If you want a sweet place, a restaurant for a date, a coffee/tea among girl friends, this is the place! I keep this place in the pocket for whenever needing a homey intimate type of restaurant.

la sixieme heure is the shizzzzzle! Anyone who is in Geneva, looking for a fabulous café MUST go. The staff is great(mainly French and a little bit of English… enough to order a fabulous coffee and dessert) and the location is super easy to find(tram 15, Palette stop, around the corner). This place is fabulous for everything from a romantic post-dinner dessert, cheering up a girlfriend who got dumped in the middle of the day, or a caffeine-fix in the morning. Enjoy! C’est bon!

A delightful little coffee shop located just off of Plainpalais, this place is really easy to miss. Compared to the quaint interior, the exterior of the shop is very unassuming, although it was fairly dark when I got there and it may be a bit more cheery during the day. But the homey atmosphere, dimmed ambiance, just-ok hot chocolate are all secondary to what I’m really here to talk about: THECHOCOLATE-BROWNIE-CAKE-PIEDESSERT. Obviously, that’s not it’s real name, but having just pointed at our desserts, we didn’t actually catch a name. But you can’t miss it. It’s chocolatey, cakey, and fudgy at the same time, but in absolutely perfect proportions. I was almost taken aback by how easily my fork slid through the cake, and may have actually let out a giggle upon first bite. We also had the lemon custard pie, which was a bit too runny and watery. The thin top layer of dried custard popped upon impact, sending out a slow-running flow of citrusy custard lava all over the plate. Taste-wise it was pretty good, but texture-wise I was tempted to take it home and freeze it for a few minutes. It stays open late, which is a godsend here. But it’s not in the best part of town, so make sure you’re with a group!
