So I have never been to an Indian Resturant I like, but in the prompting of a friend we went to this one. Nothing special about the setting or décor, but the food(at least what I got) was very good. Service was also good, but it was a slow night so not sure what it might be like on a busy summer. So I’ll be back to this one.

Hopefully the title of this review will give you some perspective as to who I am. I love ethnic food but I must admit that I’m pretty ignorant to Indian food. I basically just know saag paneer or chicken tikka masala and that’s about it so it’s really hard for me to say if something is good, bad, or great. What I do know is good food and atmosphere. Bollywood sticks with it’s name by playing Bollywood movies/videos on their big screen all day. The service is good and the décor seems appropriate. Wines start at 6CHF a glass and dishes start at 14CHF but it quickly escalates. Party for 2 with two dishes, side of rice, side of naan and 3 glasses of wine was ~90CHF. We ordered the lamb saag and murgh makhani which were both tasty and enough food for 2 people. These are small servings so don’t expect large portions. I see many complain that it’s expensive but it seems par for the course. We are in Switzerland and by all accounts, everything has been expensive. If you’re in the area, come here or get a Middle Eastern meal since there are so many in the area.

If you know Indian food well, then this is a no no. Bland, and overpriced, and bad service to boot. kitsch. Sorry I can’t be more generous. Perhaps I should put the caveat that I am ethnically Indian so have higher standards for Indian food than for other cuisine I may not know as well.

The food was delicious and the smaller than expected portions were very filling. The service was a bit slow but the gorgeous outdoor seating made up for the service! The tandoori chicken and lentil daal was especially delicious! Call for reservations on week nights and ask for outdoor seating!

This place worked out much better for me than the average Indian restaurant that I encountered in Geneva. And it shows because they are usually quite busy during peak hours unlike some other places. It was recommended by the hotel where I was staying. I ate here multiple time with different sets of people and they all seemed to like it. The décor is OK, the layout is nice, and they have outside seating. The chairs inside are a bit worn. Living up to their name, their menus were bound in DVD covers with Bollywood artists on it. They were able to accommodate my requirement for no onions and no garlic on several dishes and unlike many restaurants in Geneva that said they would accommodate the requirement but actually served food with onions in it anyway only to have me send it back, this place actually delivered. Their rotis were nice. Rice dishes were on the dry side.

Perhaps I was still full from the Chinese food I had for lunch, but the smallish-looking platter of curry turned out to be more than filling. A friend and I shared the butter chicken curry and the lamb and spinach curry. We started off with one serving of naan, which probably would have sufficed if we hadn’t been so greedy. There was a glimmer of doubt on our server’s face when we asked for extra-extra spicy, but we totally killed it. The buttered chicken actually didn’t turn out as spicy as the lamb, perhaps because the sweet buttery taste diluted the heat. The texture of the chicken was good; soft and well marinated. The lamb was also good, but I felt didn’t have as intricate a flavor as the chicken. It’s very rare that I will choose chicken over lamb, but I found myself reaching for more chicken even when my stomach was urging me to stop. Bottom line: I can’t speak for authenticity, but it was very good Indian food. And if you can take the heat, don’t be timid about asking them to make your curry as spicy as they can!

Good Indian food — the lunchtime set-menu is a good way to try some things if you’re new to Indian food, or an easy-out if you can’t make your mind up. Good value for money!

This place is A-OK. The food was good, the service was good, waiter was very nice. Love their menus… a DVD of an Indian movie is handed to you and you open it and voila, the menu — great idea huh? I enjoyed my meal. They have a large outdoor café seating area which is very nice is good weather. Its very close to the Palais Wilson UN building, walkable if you are in that area and crave Indian food.
