Well, what to say. A completely mediocre meal. Really so average I can’t thing of anything else to say. Not impressed.

Nice restaurant with a nice outdoor area. Prices start at 47CHF for main course, most starters are from 25CHF upwards. So if you search a more elevated place to eat it is perfect. The amuse-bouche was a nice greeting from the kitchen. The salad had a fine mustard dressing and was an original mixture. My tuna was one of the best I ever had, a little bit salty but I assume this was by coincidence, really great. A real recommendation.

I’m not sure how I found Chez Jacky, but I am so glad I did! It’s very close to Gare Cornavin, but on a quiet side street so it feels less«close to the station» and more«cute neighborhood standard». We reserved in advance, which seemed to be necessary, as there wasn’t an empty seat in the house by 8:30 pm. They had a choice of three menus, and all were really reasonable for Geneva(actually, they were pretty reasonable for just about any big city). I, of course, chose the most expensive one because it had foie gras prepared two ways as a starter: sautéed and a very interesting crème brûlée with lots of salt and pepper mixed into the crackly crust. It also came with a cheese course, but it wasn’t just a cheese plate: they wheeled out the cheese cart and let me select whatever I wanted. That’s not unusual in the super pricey restos, but it’s a nice surprise at this price point. And then there are the desserts: another cart, so if you like small tastes of a couple of things instead of one big lava cake or whatever, you are in luck! They had your standards(non-foie gras crème brûlée, mousse au chocolat, etc.), but they also had some other interesting choices, like a white chocolate tiramisu. They also had a variety of different fruits macerated in various liqueurs, which were a great light ending to a heavy meal. The service was awesome: the servers were friendly and even a little jovial. And the chef came out during the meal to ensure everything was to the diners’ liking… always a nice touch.
