Restaurant Soleil

We went there without a reservation bad idea. The place was very crowded: couples, families, parties however, they offered us a place one hour later.
We ordered the classic dish: cheese fondue (nearly everyone does). Unfortunately I have not a lot of restaurants to compare it with. Very tasty, though the alcohol was a bit dominant. The portion for two was just right, two more slices of bread would have been perfect.
For dessert, we had profiterole and chocolate cake which were both very nice creamy and full of chocolate.
Price is average for switzerland I would say we left 80 CHF for a bottle of water, the fondue (with tip) and two desserts; so still pricey for two students.
Well, nothing for a nice (quiet) dinner (waiters are very busy as well), but I would recommend the cheese fondue, especially when it’s cold outside.

De très bonnes fondues ! À chaque fois que j’en prend une, je né suis jamais déçu.
Avec quelques meringues et crème de Gruyère en dessert c’est parfait !

One of the best fondues in the city. Not the place to order a steak — people come for the cheese. A good place to go with a group (but don’t wear your best clothes). It’s an expat mainstay so don’t expect to hear a lot of Swiss-​French (except from the staff). The Aligote by the litre is a good deal.

Meh. The food is only ok here, nothing more. The prices are fair, so you could do a lot worse in Geneva.

Small portions of fondue (my 3 friends were served barely enough for two people) and my steak which I ordered blue, arrived cooked to a cinder. I sent it back and they made another one which, although slightly less cooked was still like charcoal (black and crumbly) around the outside. I complained again and they refused to cook it properly and told me that that was what a blue steak was supposed to look like. I told them that I would not eat it and would not pay for it and they eventually agreed to take it away. I had to leave before my friends, but then afterwards they refused to let my friends leave without paying for my steak. I now owe my friends 30CHF for an inedible steak.
Very disappointed and will never go there again.

I went this evening. They welcomed me with my name (I’m going quite often, I live close to the place). As often we had a cheese fondue which was as always excellent. It’s not the best fondue in Switzerland, but the place is always full, the service is very friendly, and the prices very reasonable. In addition, they added an extra meringue because we were 2 and they usually serve 3 meringues which are hard to share.

This is an amazing restaurant. It is not at all fancy but very basic and has a buzzing atmosphere. The service is not particularly amazing as the waiters are just so busy but the food is absolutely wonderful. Fondues are amazing, salads are delicious and the plat du jour is always, always spot on. In winter is is cosy to sit out the back where you feel you are in a cave and in the summer the terrace covered with vines is idyllic. It is lovely in the evening but I prefer the whole lunch time experience there. There’s nothing like it.
