Quite a nice experience. Decently priced(Geneva is expensive!) and nice ambiance. My friend and I ordered 2 fondues, 2 glasses of white wine, and a cup of tea. All costing us CHF52. Decent.

Not the Best. Maybe too High expectations, or wrong day but on this day, the fondue was bitter and the personal not so kind. Sadly I left in a bad mood

This is a generous review. I am not someone that loves fondue, so I am giving an extra star just in recognition that I might otherwise be inclined to rate this place too low. However, even against that background, I’ve had far better fondue on the water, and at much cheaper prices. This place is definitely a tourist trap.

If you want that fondue experience we visited Café Du Soleil. It was still central, but just a little further out. We rang to book, — which I highly recommend. We didn’t get a booking until 9:30pm on Sat night, though we weren’t too bothered as we had stuffed our faces with rostis for lunch. Again the restaurant was bustling with customers, all who were sharing the fondue. You’re served a huge plate of bread and prepare to feel cheesed out by the end of it. If that wasn’t enough, try the Malakoff, which is pretty much deep fried cheese on toast. You only live once so why not. although my digestion said otherwise. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. We also were told it was great value for money as they don’t charge you per person and can just buy one to share. Great authentic Swiss restaurant and would return again.

I would give it 7 stars if I could. I just simply love this place, the fondue, the carte and also their omelettes taste awesome. The décor is ”old school” which makes this place even more beautiful. I would recommend the Fondue and also they specialities. A Sunday café with a tartine is experience at its best.

ATTENTION: Read this review if you want a true understanding of Café du Soleil. Below are quick facts to help you make a decsion to eat here: 1) Do not go here unless you are willing to spend +$ 80.00. The Fondu @ $ 22/person x2, prosciutto, white wine [small craft], and small sparkling water led us to a bill that was a CRIME!!! 2) I was told there is «no menu» despite other reviewers somehow ordering pasta, fish, etc. I was perplexed when our server(older man with glasses) said there is no menu. NOMENU!!! That’s a #first. We were told it’s fondu and prosciutto only, so that’s what we got. We though it would be fine because they are a fondu place, but that leads me to my next point. 3) The Fondu was HIGHLY… start the chant with me… OVER-RATED(clap clap clap clap… clap clap) OVER-RATED…(clap clap clap clap… clap clap). Take Swiss cheese, a bottle of Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio, a little butter/oil, steam, and there you go — Café du Soleil Fondu. 4) Do not do what I did, and scan this page just tracking the 4-Star ratings and not read the content of the actual reviews, which many say they actually didn’t even like the Fondu! 5) Do not go here. Please, I’m doing you a huge favor. This place was the worst value I’ve ever had with a restaurant. Literally. No joking. I would have rather had a Big Mac.

If you are in Geneva, this place is an absolute must! I had one of my best dinning experiences here! First of all, the staff is so friendly! One of the guys overheard me speaking English to my friend and made a point to politely offer an English menu with a funny joke. Everyone was very attentive and super helpful. I really recommend having wine paired with the fondue! The fondue was probably in my top 10 favorite meals ever! I know I will be telling people about it 10 years from now if Geneva comes up. It’s that good! And finally I had the Crema Catalana which is to die for as well. Definitely a hearty meal but no regrets here! Don’t make a mistake and skip this place!

We went in without a reservation on a Saturday evening and was seated right away. The staff was extra friendly, always smiling and checking up on us to make sure everything was great. We didn’t speak any French but they were happy to talk to us in English. The fondue itself was phenomenal, with plenty of bread to spare. Highly recommend this place.

If there is «crème de la crème» and the«best of the best» then Café Soleil must be the fondue of the fondue. This place is proof that the oldest can also be the best… ;-)

Excellent fondue. Try the Malakoff(melted cheese in deep-fried potatoes). Don’t miss the profiteroles. Everything else was good too but those were outstanding. Service spotty– pleasant and very attentive our first visit, pleasant and not very attentive the second.

As soon as we walked in, the hostess gave us an attitude because we didn’t call ahead; instead we booked online which apparently wasn’t good enough. We were told we could only sit in the corner because the rest of the restaurant was full. However, the whole time we were there, the remaining ~10 tables throughout the restaurant stayed empty. We just felt this as being quite rude since we were spending a good amount of money on dinner. We have to say that the waiters themselves were very, very nice and pleasant. However, our food was literally uneatable. We both ordered the steak-frites, about 26CHF. I couldn’t even cut through my steak, let alone chew it. It was absolutely inexcusable to serve that quality of food. We didn’t try the fondue, so that may be better. I wouldn’t ever go back to this restaurant and I definitely don’t recommend it.

We went in with no reservation and luckily a kind manager said that he has one table that’s available but asked us if it was okay to leave before a certain time and of course we said, «Yeaaaaes!!!». The fondue had this rich taste with what I assume it is a mix of cheddar, provolone, and swiss plus some white wine. These all together creates this semi-herbal scent in your mouth with a bit of saltiness. If you are planning to drink wine with it, I recommend white wine. It makes the flavor much more savory and neutralizes that saltiness. I also ordered the fish dish and it was not salty at all which went great with the fondue. The mixed green is a typical green you could find in the U.S. I took out one star for Soleil, and that’s because I found out that I’m not a huge fan of fondue. This was my first experience having fondue, which was a bit salty for me. For some reason I believed fondue would be sweet and semi-salty. However, my friend who is a huge cheese fanatic loved loved loved it and I was glad to see that smile across his face, after those long hours of searching where to go. But I am willing to revisit when I get a chance. As a small tip, you could ask for more baguette if you want, it’s free. The fondue was about 24 euros for one person portion. I shared the fondue with one another and it was enough. The manager was kind and humorous, the waiter was very friendly as well. Anyways, it was a good experience altogether. The place is not fancy rather a bit old, but it has its own style of beauty and history engrafted in it.

Nice spot a short distance away from downtown. It’s local and very comfortable. Fondue for two was good and they scrape the crusty bits out when you finish. They also have other pasta and meat & fish dishes. Our pals got the salmon ravioli and the camabert tort salad. Decent wine selection. For fondue in Geneva, we’ll return here and avoid the tourist traps and poor quality downtown. Oh, good wait-staff also.

Definitely one of the best fondues I ever had and the place is charming. The Café du Soleil is a safe choice but I strongly advise to make a table reservation before showing up. It is well known address and it is often full. It has been around for many years.

OK, this is a great place to have some nice meat or fondue. Not sure about the saying that it’s the best fondue in Geneva, though… Also, perhaps it’s culture shock, but while the melted cheese went fine down my tubes, I am having trouble digesting the price, and believing that a fondue for 4, a bottle of wine, some cured meat and a few cups of tea, amount to 200CHF… Anyway, great atmosphere !

I’d heard great things about Café du Soleil’s fondue and decided to come here with a few friends for my first real fondue experience. We came early by Swiss standards for dinner(around 7PM) so it wasn’t crowded yet. Service was quick and friendly. I had the Chicken Liver Salad with Raspberry Vinegar and then shared the fondue. I am usually not a big liver eater but the flavors in the salad were superb and I enjoyed all of it. The fondue was unbelievably filling. The bread used for dipping was delicious and the fondue was good. It’s flavored with a bitter red wine and starts off
