The staff was super friendly– something that you don’t always encounter in Switzerland. The food was amazing, raclette, horse steak, frites, beer, crème brûlée, coffee and tiramisu. Nice view and clean toilettes. Perfect for visitors to Gruyeres.

Accommodated our rather large group with cheer. Tasty traditional Swiss meals, especially the fondue. I mixed it up with a green salad and it was huge, fresh, and welcome break from the cheese. Extensive kids menu including some very fancy ice cream sundaes. The beer was nondescript, but came in a fun variety of sizes.

This was my fourth visit to Gruyère and in my previous visits I have always gone to the restaurant in the chalet style building. This time I forced myself to try something different, so I went to Café Des Remparts. They offer a fantastic enclosed panoramic terrace that has windows that can open when the weather is nice. The view from the terrace is phenomenal. Our group ordered a raclette, fondue, and Gruyère cold meat plate. The service was friendly and the food was fantastic. For dessert we had the typical Swiss dessert of sorbet in liqueur, which was very tasty. Following we had a coffee which came with a special surprise treat. The treat was a small mini chocolate cup with a bit of Gruyère’s famous double cream. I have now found another favorite Gruyère restaurant. It will be hard to ensure I try a different place the next time I go.

I went to Gruyère on a Monday and was upset to find out that many places are closed, however, this one is a popular place, I always see it full so we tried it. We had a menu of Swiss items to try… fondue, rosti and the mushroom pillows(as described on the menu). Fondue was delicious, rosti was OK — we asked for a change to how it was listed on the menu and they did it for us, adding bacon and an egg. The mushroom pillow was the puff pastry shell filled inthe middle with a mushroom cream sauce, so what we got was much better than their description and I am thinking the whole menu is this way since it was very literal basic translation so I got better food that I thought I would get! They have a great website as well, in all langugages. The waitress spoke English too which was nice.
