Il Faro

Il Faro is one of a small chain of Italian restaurants in the Zurich area. (At least I think it’s a chain as there are about four restaurants I know of in the Zurich metropolitan area with the same name!) The one I like the best is in Herrliberg which is a tiny and hilly village south of Zurich — direct on the Zurichsee. In fact there is a ferry boat across the lake just a little bit south of here.
Il Faro is designed for a bit of old-​world charm. The menu is your basic standard Italian — to me not the most interesting cuisine in the world — but it does these all-​too-​familiar dishes well. I opted for a pizza called the Exotica this time as at least it was a little bit different having green bananas as one of the toppings. This rather large Exotica pizza was good enough although not exceptional. The salad was small but really good — tasty dressing and crisp salad ingredients. A Feldschlösschen Bier was a nice accompaniment. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive!
Anyway, if you find yourself travelling around the Zurichsee (Lake Zurich) by foot, car, or boat … keep this place in Herrliberg in mind for a lunch or dinner stop. And in warm weather there is an attractive outdoor eating area overlooking the lake.

Das Il Faro gibt es mehrfach in der Region Zürich, doch das Restaurant in Herrliberg hat es mir besonders angetan. Hier kann man Bankette bestellen, gemütlich mit Freunden essen oder auch mal alleine auf «Ego» eine Pizza geniessen. Die grosse Sonnenterasse lädt zum Verweilen ein und bietet für viele sonnenhungrige und frischluftliebende Leute Platz.
Egal ob mit Schiff, Bus, Bahn oder Auto, das Il Faro ist bestens erreichbar und bietet Leckereien aus dem italienischen Raum. Die hausgemachten Teigwaren, die knusprigen Pizzen oder auch die Fleischgerichte sind ein Traum. Am liebsten esse ich die die Nudeln mit Pilz-​Poulet-​Rahmsauce — ein kalorienreicher aber genüsslicher Akt der Gaumenfreude.

Sehr gutes ital. Restaurant, schöné Lage, aufmerksame Bedienung.
War mittlerweile mehrmals da, immer sehr zufrieden, feste Karte und abwechslungsreiche Tagesangebote.
Gute Getränkeauswahl.
Preislage: Angesichts der Lage angemessen. Recht beliebt, daher Reservierung empfehlenswert.
