When I used to live in Lausanne, this used to be my favorite place to meet my friends in a quite environment (excluding weekends).
Bar Tabac is a very nice bar/café/bistrot located near the St. Francois cathedral.
What I like:
The staff is very friendly, and the owner never misses a chance to give you hints on their selection of international beers (I specially appreciate the Belgian ones) or just make you laugh:). They also have a good selection of Tees and tapas. The décor looks a little old but that adds to the charm of the place. The place can host big and small groups which is convenient when you want to meet before going out. The crowd type depends on the time of the day, it can range from families, afterwork people, partygoers or students.

prices are a bit steep, specially for the Tees and the place can be sometimes be a bit messy

bistrot sympa, notamment pour y boire un bon thé à la menthe. La carte de petite restauration est par contre vraiment minimale. Wifi gratuit (demander le code au bar)

By far the most easy-going place to spend time in Lausanne. Bar Tabac is a great place to read the latest magazines (they have an excellent selection) meet people socially or for work (fantastic natural light with a wifi connection) or simply chill-out (the music is always cool and the sound is beautifully pure). Inside is smoke-free on Monday to Wednesday, which I consider a real plus.

Grundsätzlich sprechen mich Bars eher an, wenn das Publikum gemischt ist. Dies ist hier der Fall. Darüber hinaus ist Bar Tabac richtig gemütlich und biete eine preisgerechte Speise– und Getränkekarte! Kein Wunde, dass diese Bar überrannt wird und dies wird sicherlich noch so bleiben. Es gibt kaum eine vergleichbare Bar in Lausanne, einer meiner Lieblingsorte in Europa.
