Went to Café de Grancy back in January, after a friend recommended it to me. Was super packed for lunch when I arrived, but luckily the waiter allowed me to sit at the lounge and order food. I ordered duck with sweet potato purée. Duck was cold and not very tender– I actually preferred the sweet potato purée and vegetables!
Super expensive, mediocre food. Service was pleasant, albeit very slow (even for rush hour). At least I got to experience this well-known establishment!

The ambiance is nice, the staff is nice, the café itself is cute, but the food is just OK and it’s reaaaaaaaaaaaally expensive for what you get.
The hours are good (open until midnight most nights) so if you don’t have other options this place is fine.

L’endroit est vraiment sympa, un peu bruyant peut-être, mais cela fait partie de son charme.

I really enjoy Café de Grancy. They have really good tartar, wine, and the desserts are delicious. I’ve also had the pasta which is great. The location is good to central Lausanne and it has a bit of a French feel to it.
The service could have been better. We seemed to be waiting around a lot for our wine, for the bill, and to pay. We are also Americans in Switzerland so this is a bit expected.
Definitely make a reservation just in case because it fills up almost all nights. Casual atmosphere.
Overall I would recommend it as a good spot to hit when you are in Lausanne.

Un service très rapide et agréable à midi. Le plat du jour était un bon plat de brasserie. Je suis aussi resté pour travailler l’après-midi sans que cela pose problème. Ils ont un choix de thé varié.
Très bonne adresse proche de la gare de Lausanne.

Petit café sympa à l’ambiance cosy, avec une partie salon avec fauteuils confortables et une partie restaurant avec grandes tables. Très bon accueil, choix de thé variés. A refaire sans aucun doute!

Ugh.
The food is so tasteless and also overpriced, the only reason I go is to drink something that does not require coffee skills. As the espresso drinks are not made well… cappucino with way too much milk and cold.
So if you are 4 and crave a sirop de grenadine (haha), a beer, a tea, a glass of wine, juice, go for it. Other than that, protect your mouth!
Hummus is not hard people. It’s 2014, f*cking up hummus is like f*cking up hard boiled eggs. If you can manage to make hummus tasteless, I don’t know what to say.
ALSO. Can we update the music from time to time to something from this century? Bob Dylan I like, fine, but come on… every time I go there!!! Or the Doors OMG please kill me.
Second ALSO. It is a freaking child zoo on the weekend. Child noise is insane. Loud as hell and not pleasant. Servers almost tripping over them and their strollers.

Went to Café de Grancy for dinner not really knowing what to expect. It was close to my location and it seemed popular with the locals, so I decided to give it a shot. While they do have a entrée menu their main claim seemed to me to be their tartars with salad. I ordered a salmon tartar and my friend ordered the beef. Both the tartars were excellent, but the salad was fairly plain and nothing to write home about.
We were strangely not given a wine menu, but from a quick look online their wine menu seems to be fairly long and varied. Service was good, and while I muddled through ordering in French I noticed later that the waitresses seemed to speak a good deal of English, so don’t be afraid to ask.

I used to really like Café de Grancy, mostly for their dinner menu and good dinner service. I went this morning hoping for some quiet time. It took the overworked staff to wait on me. I ordered a cappuccino, which was really not good. I took a sip with the steamed milk and I drank the glass of water I had asked for. The cappuccino tasted really bad and was expensive for the quality, 4.80.-
The restaurant/café was noisy mostly because the phone kept ringing with a high pitch ringtone. The staff being overworked, each time some called, the phone rang an awful lot of times. One of the waitresses was really obnoxious and not very nice.
Maybe this was a bad day at the Café de Grancy, but I am sure that I will not order a cappuccino next time I go. I will stick to water.

This was another eatery I found close to the dorm where I stayed for a summer study abroad. The food is awesome! The relaxing atmosphere is conducive for enjoying a meal with friends or by yourself. The food can be a bit pricey, but to be fair most of the restaurants in Switzerland are pricey. Yet, I was never dissatisfied with the food so I think its worth it. The wait staff are very friendly — one kindly offered me a blanket when the weather turned a bit chilly during an afternoon rain shower. Great food and great ambiance are worth the trip. Last, but not least, it is a right by a metro stop so its super convenient.

C’est le restaurant près de mon lieu de travail. J’adore y aller à midi surtout sur la terrasse. À l’intérieur, c’est très bruyant. À déconseiller pour les lunch meetings !
La cuisine est très bonne et le service est chaleureux.

Question service: Trop de monde, trop de clients à la chaîné… dans les yeux des serveurs, je né voyais que l attente de mon départ pour les clients qui attendaient la place.
Question plat, je m attendais à bien mieux vu le prix. …
Bref: un restaurant plutôt brasserie, victime de son succès. Je né retournerai pas.

Café de Grancy reminds me of old Coffee Shops in the Pacific Northwest. Students, Laptops and hipster atmosphere in this spacious coffee shop.
Atmosphere ⁵⁄₅: The atmosphere is perfect to work or study. Tables are usually free in the morning or afternoon except for Lunch or Dinner. The Café is also open every night until midnight. Tables and chairs are in an old style wood that gives some character to this restaurant.
Food ³⁄₅: I haven’t tried the food but I heard it’s descent. They apparently have a great Brunch on Sundays and you better reserve your table before heading there for Breakfast. The menu is available on their website as well.
Service ⁴⁄₅: Service is great and waitresses are really nice. They are quite responsive and always make sure you are doing good without being to pushy.
Great place to chill, have a drink with a friend or just study/work on your laptop for 1hr or 2.

Quite a nice place for week end brunches. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
Quality is good, scrambled eggs are not over cooked and orange juice tastes like freshly pressed.
I took the «John Steed» menu + Crêpe with goat cheese and ham. Very good and I spent 40chf.
Pets and children (not that these are the same) are well accepted.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
There is wifi, news papers and magazines (in french)
I recommend you book in advance, although if you are lucky you may be seated in a sofa with small table…
Toilets are clean (at least when I went there).
The booking think that is almost necessary removes a little bit of the spontaneous and relax atmosphere. I would also say that the place is a little lout, but a conversation is still possible.
I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Ein Café das schon von aussen gemütlich aussieht. Grosse Fenster lassen viel Licht rein. Drinnen ist es einfach, aber gemütlich eingerichtet, mit viel Holz. Der Grossteil des Cafés ist mit Esstischen möbliert (jeder Stuhl ist mit einem Filmcharakter beschrieben), eine kleine Ecke lädt zum fleetzen ein in grossen gemütlichen Sesseln, die Literaturecke ist direkt daneben.
Das Café hat kleine besondere Feinheiten:
Z.B. Zeiten in denen nicht geraucht werden darf. Ausserdem gibt es mehrere Karten: eine für mittags, eine für abends, eine für Mittwochs, Samstags und Sonntags. Gegessen habe ich leider noch nicht dort, es wird aber nicht mehr lange dauern.
Die Mitarbeiter sind alle freundlich, also rundum ein Ort zum wohlfühlen.
Preise: ca 20– 25 CHF für ein Essen
Wifi gibts auch.
reservieren wird empfohlen, da das Ding immer voll ist
