Malgré son apparence vétuste, la gare de Lausanne est le point névralgique de l’activité ferroviaire sur l’arc lémanique. Point de passage important, on y trouve différents commerces et de quoi se restaurer.

Tant que les quais sont fumeurs, c’est assez irrespirable aux heures de fortes affluences. Je me demande ce que la CFF attend pour que la gare devienne un endroit non-fumeur… Ou au moins que les fumeurs soient dans une zone bien délimitée pour que cela soit respirable pour les autres. Un autre problème de cette gare est la difficulté de parking pour la dépose ou l’attente des passagers.

Der Bahnhof Lausanne ist leider nicht mit dem rasanten Wachstum der Stadt Lausanne mitgekommen. Im moment ist der Bahnhof viel zu klein. Mit gerade mal 8 Geleisen, an denen Züge halten können, genügt er den hohen Anforderungen der heutigen Pendlerstörme nicht mehr. Es ist allerdings ein grosser Umbau geplant damit der Bahnhof in Zukunft den bedürfnissen entsprechen kann. Sämtliche Perrons werden auf bis zu 400 m verlängert. Die weiteren geplanten Umbauten sind am unteren Ende den Bahhofes in einer Ausstellung zu sehen. Im Bahnhof befindet sich das Tourismus office diverse Restaurant und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

Want the feeling of being run over by a large group of moving humans? Then come to Lausanne train station. I lived in Lausanne for several months when first moving to Geneva, and dreaded the train station at rush hour. I always tried to put myself into the way of moving traffic, but I always seemed to get stuck in the opposite flow. For the large and growing town of Lausanne, this train station is well in need of a makeover. If Geneva, Nyon, and Gland get upgraded stations, then Lausanne definitely should. There are several places to eat and shop within the station, but nothing to compare with Geneva(and that isn’t saying much). The only thing going for it is my favourite tea place — Teko tea.

This train station is too small for Lausanne city and canton(VD). It’s better to avoid during mornings and evenings rush hours! It won’t be easier to move faster above all for passengers with luggage! Additionally atmosphere is uncomfortable and aggressive! you better watch it and avoid to accidentally touch people because some of them could really react irritated and with lack of understanding! Train station remains closed between 11:45 pm and 4:30 am! Lausanne is facing huge problems with drugs dealers and organised criminality! Around 10:00 pm many places like(Place de la Riponne or party district Flon) are dangerous and you may only see drugs dealers and dangerous people! Situation remembers somehow Zurich Letten huge drugs scene problems which had been successfully ended in 1994. Lausanne police hasn’t been yet reformed, is costly and hence inefficient! There is a restaurant, bakery and some shops like mini-supermarket Aperto 24, Tekoe Tea and so on in Lausanne train station but it’s a limited choice. There is a tourist office centre too(please check service open hours in Internet).
