Désolé mais c’est pas pour moi. J’ai ré-​essayé mais je né suis vraiment pas un adepte des selfs-​services! Le contact avec le personnel se veut «cool» mais né l’est pas dans les faits. Les personnes qui font la cuisine («devant vous») ont vraiment pas l’air d’être super-​heureux (en tout cas pas quand j’y suis allé). Le décor est ok mais ça reste du standardisé (n’oubliez pas que les Vapianos sont une chaîné. ;-)) Enfin au niveau des prix c’est toujours le même «binz»: les selfs c’est au final aussi cher ou même plus cher qu’un restaurant où l’on vient prendre la commande à votre table et où l’on vous sert à table ! Personnellement je trouve tout-​à-​fait agréable de me faire servir quand je suis dans un resto ! ;-)

Ouais, pourquoi pas? Ce genre de «healthy fast-​food» tend à vouloir rattraper l’image parfois négative du fast-​food. Pour ma part, je trouve le concept original de voir son plat être préparé devant ses yeux. En revanche, cela implique parfois un long temps d’attente debout. Les plats sont bons/​ok (un peu trop gras et trop salés à mon goût).

What a great find! The food was fantastic, price was right, and the atmosphere was great. The food is fresh and your dish is made to order. The Pesto was extremely good, but everyone in our party raved about their choice. Easily accessible by the Metro.

Cool place that won’t break the bank. It reminded a little of a college cafeteria, with all of the little stations you could go to to get different types of food or drinks. But not in a bad way.

I got a pizza, with high hopes — only part of which were met. I guess it just felt a little cheap.
I think overall I would return to try the pasta, but mostly because the price to value ratio is in the sweet spot.

Voici comment ça se passé: en rentrant, une hôtesse sympathique vous remet une carte magnétique en main sur laquelle vois allez mettre tous ce que vous souhaitez manger tout au long de votre visite dans les différents stands proposés.
Pâtes, pizza, salade en passant par de superbes entrées froides ou chaudes, tout y est. La qualité est très bonne et surtout par rapport au prix proposé.

We can say something better than fast food. Fresh ingredients, nice service, nice prices. Ideal place for quick lunch with your friends or colleagues.

Awesome place! Quality food, freshly prepared in front of you, and the cost isn’t too bad for Switzerland. The place itself is really well run — well structured and orderly, and there are staff members constantly bussing tables and keeping the place clean.
The pasta is great! I came here with a group of friends and we each had a pasta dish — no one was disappointed.
There is no table service so you need to go to the bar separately for drinks (even water). The staff is nice and they speak English well, but none of the wine pours are very large so be prepared to go back to the bar a few times if you want more alcohol.

Great quality food and fresh ingredients. Food is being prepared in front of you and you get to choose the combination of pasta and sauce you like. The environment is pleasant and staff friendly. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. The only downside is the long standing queue that you have to undertake for every dish you want during rush hours. All things considered a great place for a pleasant meal.

Never get tired of their freshly made pastas! I didn’t really die for the carbonara, but I loved the one with champignon and white wine. So tasty– whether a salad, pizza, or pasta.

Vapiano offers great food for a great price. The indoor décor looks stylish and modern, while the food tastes authentic and rustic. There are stations all across the restaurant (looks more like a giant living room), that serve either pizza, pasta, drinks, or dessert. Because of this, chefs specialize in making these dishes and thus the quality and taste is great. The food comes out 10 – 15 minutes tops, and from the 3 times I have been here, it is always consistent and excellent. I order the penne pasta with shrimp and spinach, while sharing a margarita pizza amongst my company. Like the great food, the employees I have met are nice and courteous, and seem to understand multiple languages such as English, Spanish, and obviously French. However, being located right on a noisy large street, bus stop, and train stop, the location is sub par. In addition, in order to go to the restaurant, you’ll have to take an escalator up, which solely goes to the restaurant. A little bit of a hassle to just get to a restaurant. Overall great chefs with great food at reasonable prices.
— Warning: the pasta is cooked pretty tough, like italian and «al dente». Ask them to cook it longer if you want it to be more soft and light. Also, I do not recommend the shrimp, especially to people that have sensitive teeth/​mouth. It is hard as a rock. I definitely reccommend the pizza over the pasta. Good luck :)

I like this for a quick meal. The location is great and I love the concept. Go order your food and get a hot meal made in front of you very quickly. I have been here twice and the first time got the salmon pasta. The taste overall was very bland. I wasn’t impressed with the flavor, and I would definitely order a different pasta next time. I did get a pizza here once and it was very good.
The staff is always friendly, prices are good, and I will definitely return. Don’t go here for a nice date night or for a nice night out, but definitely go here for a quick dinner with friends.
How it works — grab your card, go order whatever you want and put it on the card, pay at the end. Love it.

Ate here twice while I was on an academic exchange in Lausanne. The pizza was freshly made by the chef behind the counter. You just walk up to them and tell them which pizza you want and they’ll make it for you. I also thought that the fresh basil growing in pots at your table was a unique concept. It is overpriced (normal Swiss prices), but I used a half off coupon when I went there.

Très bon restaurant de pasta, pizzas, risotto, antipastis et salades. Serveurs très souriants et accueillants. Service original avec système de carte pour payer à la fin. Les plats sont faits devants vous avec des produits frais et parfaitement assaisonnés. Décor moderne et feutré. On peut également emportez les plats et prendre un tupperware si on a trop mangé…

I’ve been to 3 different Vapianos in 3 different countries and this was my least favorite one. We were just driving thru in a snowy day and all decided this would be a safe choice since we’ve all been to one before. The lines for the pasta were VERY long. After waiting for about 15 – 20 mins my friend decided to go to the pizza line since it was shorter. Food was very average. Pasta was undercooked and was lacking flavor. My friends pizza was slightly burnt, salad was great. 3 stars just because I like how organized these chain restaurants are in general.

Very well organized restaurant. You get a card when you arrive and then you can go to the various pizza, pasta, salad counters to place your order. They will then charge the card and when you’re done eating, you present the card at check-​out counter and pay.
Food wise, it’s pretty main stream Italian — nothing spectacular — and for the price (way overpriced) you can eat at much better Italian restaurants in Lausanne. Here you’re basically paying for convenience — close to the train statin, and very fast service.

Twice in four days, tried several items while visiting this location. All were very tasty, the Carbonara saumon, YUMMY! And the Pizza choice: pesto con Spinaci avec saumon, even better. The Greek salad was absolutely awesome! We did not try the dessert too full from main items each time! I LOVE this location, may visit again before leaving Lausanne. The staff is wonderful and appear to love what hey are doing.

Très très satisfait du service lors des premiers mois suivant l’ouverture…Mais depuis, tables non débarrassées, mets peu satisfaisants pour le prix et staff peu sympathique tend à devenir la norme.
C’est dommage, pour le prix.

Based on other reviews, I tried to take a look. They wouldn’t let me pass the cash register without taking one of the cards. Any place that doesn’t cater to customers, is not worth my time or money. Note: I had already eaten somewhere else and just wanted to see layout with a brief walk around. Entire place put me off. Note, also, it is not in a good neighborhood — directly opposite the train station with a bunch of undesirables all around, looking for trouble.

I’m just visiting in lausanne and happened to walk into this restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in, and wasn’t planning on having dinner but the place seemed cool. It was self service (an experience in of it self)… And the food was really really good (we got pizza) def recommend!

Wonderful food and great atmosphere. The caprisi salad was amazing and the pizza was delicious. Great concept using the little credit cards. Will definitely visit again.

Great concept and well organized! No wonder that the organization is German and the food Italian. Best of both worlds. Efficiency combined with tasty food and reasonably priced. Décor also pleasant. What else would one ask for from a gourmet restaurant with fast food aspects. Me like!

Very interesting place reminding me of the Marche restaurants in Toronto. Makes me wonder who copied who since both are Swiss.
Anyway, the similarities are in the fact that you receive a card upon entering the place and go choose what you want and th food is prepared right in front of you. Very fresh products, tasty food, great service and a very nice atmosphere (a touch of modern, with wide open spaces, great lighting and beautiful décor).
The pasta I had was full of flavours and cook to perfection. I had the ‘death by chocolate’ cake as dessert and true to its name it’s a killer! A delicious soft piece of chocolate mousse accompanied by fresh strawberries. I also had an espresso and true to other places where I tried it in Switzerland it was impeccable!
Great place and the only reason it doesn’t get a five star rating is that the menu isn’t for those on a budget. It’s not expensive by any means, especially for Swiss standards, but it’s certainly not the most affordable option.
All in all a fantastic place, right next to the train station and minutes walk from downtown.

Wie gewohnt bei Vspiano ein schönes Interieur und gutes Essen.
Schade ist das Restaurant so versteckt im Gebäude und es gibt wenig Fenstersitzplätze.

Food is great. Neat system for paying using RFID cards they give you at the door. Order what you want and they cook it in front of you. Has beer and ice cream too. Great place for Pizza or Pasta. Staff was friendly as well. RIght across from RailCity
