I want to support independent cinemas, and maybe this place would be ok if they stuck to screening films and serving popcorn and Mike an Ikes(or the far superior Bit O’ Honey). A friend and I went to try the Sunday brunch at Zinema and were kinda motivated as it was a funny idea to have brunch in a movie theatre. Normally I really do not care at all about service, I am incredibly tolerant. But the service here was like… sorry to be really non-PC…I dunno, like how I remember it that time 20 yrs ago when I ate at a Carl’s Jr and they had employed ‘special people’ as part of a community service program. The thing is, though… the special people ROCKED at that Carl’s Jr. They got the orders right and everything was served up fast and efficiently!!! SO the service actually made me think of how I would IMAGINE it being served by special people. I swear to bejeezus that all 3 servers would bring out *literally* one item at a time. Order a croissant with butter and jam and an OJ and coffee? The server will pitter-patter sloth-like out of the kitchen with your croissant on a plate, and then disappear for 5 minutes. Then she’ll shuffle out like a granny in velcro orthopedic slippers with the butter… and so on til 40 minutes later you have your entire continental breakfast! Well done, were you in the Speshull Olimpicks? Careful, you’re not wearing your helmet! Also at 11:00 they no longer had half of the items on the menu(such as charcuterie, cheese, eggs). So we basically payed 14CHF each for a cold breakfast of muesli with milk(out of yogurt) and a croissant and coffee. I know this is cheap for Swiss standards, but I’d gladly pay the normal ~25CHF for something yummy and served in a logical manner. Not sure how this place stays open… they should get their act together. I want my 14CHF back!

Disappointing brunch, there weren’t any fresh ingredients and it wasn’t tasty either: the fruit juice was a thick brownish semi-warm mud for example. We had to wait almost an hour to get our orders on top of that, despite reservations. I think I’d go back to check out a movie as I liked Zinéma’s berlinesque decoration and laid-back atmosphere, but definitely not for eating!

The location is really special, feels like an old factory. Trendy and cozy. The Sunday brunch is good and inexpensive
