Hou Hou China Restaurant Chan Lai Iok

We had a group dinner for 8 and were able to sample many of the dishes of Hou Hou.
For starters we had some spring rolls which were served with an interesting cabbage salad. They were light crispy and decent flavour.
Next we had a multitude of dishes ordered consisting of: fried rice, Szechuan chicken and Szechuan beef (brought in a hot pot), shrimp with noodles, pork, pan fried vegetables. Each were kept warm on metal racks with tea votives lit underneath to keep the plates hot. This I have never seen at a Chinese restaurant. All of the dishes were quite good with traditional flavour and sauces. The shrimp was crunchy and soft at the sometime. Just how Cantonese style should be! The Szechuan chicken and beef were really nice and great sauce accompanying the dishes!
Speaking with the owners afterwards when paying the bill they mentioned to me they came from Hong Kong. I always find it interesting to talk with the staff as you learn something about them and share where you are from! having a father who is Chinese I was raised on many dishes and this is good quality and serving size is decent!
Coming from North America pricing is a bit crazy at over 220 CHF for eight people (20 CHF tip on top of included tip per person) but this is the land of expensive especially restaurants!
All in all we had a very nice experience!
