Pizzeria zum Weissen Kreuz

Reservations are probably a good idea during peak meal times– especially for a large group of 4 or more. I had one of the special pizzas with spicy sausage and fresh basil (btw– I learned that spicy sausage in Switzerland = pepperoni and pepperoni in Switzerland = pepper) which was had a good flavor and a thin crust, albeit a little drier than I would’ve liked. If you don’t like spicy flavors– the chili infused oil that’s brought out with the pizza should be used sparingly… as it has a slow building cumulative effect with each bite. I personally enjoyed it– but patrons should definitely be forewarned if you’re dousing your pizza with the oil in lieu of crushed red pepper flakes!

A co worker of mine who lives in Switzerland recommended this pizza restaurant as a good place for pizza so I decided to go check it out. The place is a «seat-​yourself» type of restaurant so we took whatever table was available.
My co worker ordered the Italia Piccante pizza with fresh tomatoes, spicy sausage, basil and parmesan while I ordered the Carpaccio all’olio tartufato which was the thinly sliced raw beef with parmesan and truffle topped with a salad in the middle and some bread. I really enjoyed the fresh tomatoes on top of the pizza which i have never had before and the crust was just right thickness. Their pizzas are made in a stone brick oven which we were seated next to, so you know that they cook it fresh and once you have ordered it. The Carpaccio dish that I ordered was a larger portion version of the appetizer. The meat was very fresh so I wasn’t worried about eating it raw. I took a slice of bread, layed a few slices of raw beef on top, slathered it with spicy olive oil and topped it off with some parmesan cheese. It was not filling, but it was definitely a delicacy to have and I think was worth trying!
Overall, I think this is a nice little place to check out for Italian food in Lucerne. 4 stars and I would come back again!

Die Bedienung ist absolut unterirdisch! Hatte mit meinem Freund zusammen reserviert. Als wir reinkamen, wurde uns trotz Reservation und freien Tischen der kleine Zweiertisch zwischen Eingang und Küche zugewiesen. Die Dame vom Service kam extrem arrogant rüber und wir fühlten uns total herablassend behandelt.
Auf meine Nachfrage nach einem anderen Platz wurde uns dann mit Murren ein anderer Platz gegeben.
Das Essen hier ist wirklich fein! Aber leider konnte ich es überhaupt nicht geniessen, da ich mich so über die Bedienung aufgeregt hatte.
Ein befreundetes Paar hatte ein ähnliches Erlebnis. Ewig lange im Warteraum warten trotz Reservation und erst nach drittem Mal nachfragen einen Tisch bekommen.
Im weissen Kreuz hat man es dank der super Lage wohl einfach nicht nötig, die Gäste auch als solche zu behandeln.

Im weissen Kreuz inmitten der schönen Luzerner Altstadt mit Terrasse in der Seitengasse geniesst man sehr feine Italienische Speisen und exzellente Pizza’s aus dem Holzofen! Sehr empfehlenswert!
