Ok. We went there tonight. Read the reviews. Bluntly. You must not have many restaurants that can serve similar cuisine. I had the Kafka dish, basically lacking in spices and really with a tomato sauce would have been something a college student could have made for ten dollars for four people! My wife ordered vegetable couscous. Couscous (dry) with some sticks of carrots and zucchini. Keep in mind, we have to pay $ 34 CDN for EACH of these meals. If it wasn’t for the beer and the feel to the place…½ a star would have been it. Ps. The bar was busy!
Yes. I’ve downgraded to one star. The important part. My Kafka dish was not made fresh or had been sitting so long that it started to have the fat congeal. When I took the fancy cover off my dish when it arrived… a skin had formed over the whole dish and the edges had solid fat forming.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a year now, and only just got around to doing so a few weeks ago. I wasn’t disappointed in the least; you won’t go wrong with anything you order off of the Mezzekarte. The peppermint tea was also really nice. It does get crowded, so I’d recommend making reservations a few days before.

Stumbled upon this small, airy restaurant on a recent trip to Lucerne from the US. Searching for something near our hotel that wasn’t crazy expensive for our family of four. Was very pleased w/the food. The cucumber/tomato appetizer salad was okay, maybe a little under seasoned, but the tagines that we had as main courses were all tremendously flavorful. The chicken (w/traditional lemon, olives and potatoes) was falling off the bone tender. The lamb kefta meatballs were maybe a little overcooked, but the spicy tomato sauce it was simmering in was spectacular. Add in the couscous and egg on top and I was happy.

Was wünscht sich ein Neustadtindianer mehr als eine Bar wie das Barbes in unmittelbarer Purzelbaumnähe?
Immer wieder sehr gerne zu den beinahe unheimlich guten Mezze.
oder auch nur auf ein Glas Wein oder ein Bier bei Lavinia, Hamid oder Younes!
Ein Gastgebertrio welches mit Herz und Magen die Bar führt.
