Just had drinks
We decided to hike up to the hotel for drinks to watch the sunset. We were told by our hotel that there was a tram to the hotel, but the only one we saw was for guests only.
We hiked up the walkway which took about 10 – 15 minutes. It is steep so if you are out of shape or have issues walking, this walk is not for you.
When we finally got up there, the view was worth the hike. The bartender didn’t come to us for another 10. Once we got service, the drinks options are endless. We both stuck to beer and there were great options.
The shifts must have changed because the new bartender was much more attentive and caring. We had 2 more beers and headed back down the hill.

Four stars only for the spectacular building and location. The views over the City of Lucerne are amazing even though on our visit it was very overcast. This is much vaunted elegant Château Gutsch so my husband and I made the effort to dress nicely for Sunday lunch. Most other guests did too so I was surprised when the staff seated a table of four near us, one of whom sported shorts and a T shirt proclaiming him to be a «Bad Ass». And no, he was not 16 but a grown man ! Personally I was surprised that the restaurant of this quality does not exercise a dress code. The «Bad Ass «T shirt and what looked gym shorts were a brave choice as I would also like to mention that there was a brisk wind blowing on a very cool day… Summer is over. It was definitely cooler autumn weather but no heating was on in the restaurant and the stone floors were… Stone cold. brrrr! I mentioned it to the waiter but it did nt get any warmer.
There was a Degustation Menu or a la carte to choose from so i chose an entrée and Mains from the Degustation Menu. My delicate entrée of Comfit of watermelon with yoghurt and goats cheese from Stans came prettily presented but i am still not sure about the purpose of the sorbet in the middle.. We both chose the Duo of entrecôte and rib steak with grilled baby corn to follow but neither the meat or the accompaniments were remarkable. My husband had ordered a wonderful 2008 Echezeaux Pinot noir so no dessert and we finished the wine and the meal with a cheese platter. In conclusion, this was not an inexpensive meal. In Lucerne there are a choice of several more than excellent restaurants, some also with extraordinary views. I have to say that we have eaten better there for the same money. Today s lunch was disappointing by comparison.

This beautiful hotel is totally worth the steep walk. It is tucked into the mountain and the patio offers gorgeous views. We stopped in for coffee and the menu looked decent for meals as well. Make the trip, you won’t be disappointed!

Invest a 10 minutes walk up the stairs from Pilatusplatz and you’ll find yourself in this wonderful castle with an amazing view over the area. Hotel, Restaurant and Bar are furnished lovingly in vintage style. Amuse Bouches and drinks at the bar are available from 10 SFr. Stay inside or seat yourself outside on one of several terraces, equipped with chairs and tables, loungy areas and sunbeds.

What a beautiful view of beautiful Luzerne.
Famous place, and rightly so. For you pedestrians, take the bahn, or electric tram up from street level. Gotta go for a drink and the view. I have not stayed here, but I am sure that the rooms are small, cozy and impeccably clean and neat. Some with the view from heaven.

Ich war nur gerade zwei mal hier essen. Ich würde sicher sehr gerne mehrmal gehen, aber das passt leider nicht in mein Budget.
Man muss schon ehrlich sein, der Gütsch ist was sehr nobles, wie man das aus dem TV, Medien oder sonst wo kennt.
Für die meisten Leute sicher nicht was alltägliches, aber für einen speziellen Anlass sicher besten geeignet.
Bedienung:
Es ist fast schon wie ein Traum, man wird bedient wie ein König oder eine Königin. Ich persönlich fühlte mich komisch, aber eher weil ich das nicht gewohnt bin.
Essen:
Das Essen ist vom aller feinsten. Mehrere kleine Gange die das Auge und Gaumen jedes mal zum staunen bringen.
Wer hier aber einen grossen Teller erwartet ist hier fehl am Platz .
Tip:
Es empfiehlt sich gut gekleidet hinzugehen. Der Mann sicher in einem Anzug und die Frau in einen Kleid. Also Turnschuhe sind definitiv ein «no go»
Bei schönen Wetter kann man auf der Terrasse die Mahlzeit geniessen und gleichzeitig den Ausblick über der Stadt Luzern und mehr bewundern.

Silvestermenu im Gütsch:
Amuse Bouche:
Serano Schinken auf pochiertem Ei und Spinat.
Lauwarm, sollte das so sein ?
Der geraspelte Trüffel auf dem Serano Schinken ging für mich unter? 3 Sterne
1.Gang:
Hummer auf Erbsenflan und Vanillebirnen. Hummer lauwarm, mit den Erbsen etwas geschmacklos. 3 Sterne.
2. Gang:
Currysüppchen mit rosa gebr. Wachtelbrust und Frühlingsrolle.
Indisch angehaucht, leicht scharf.
Gut und lecker. 4 Sterne
3. Gang:
Wolfsbarschfilet gebraten auf Fischfond mit Muscheln. 3 — 4 Sterne
4. Gang:
Kalbsfilet auf Polenta mit Entenleber und Wurzel-​Jung-​Gemüse. Genau richtig gebraten und gut gewürzt. 4 Sterne
5. Gang:
Karamellisierter Ziegenfrischkäse mit Quitten und Thymian. Hätte ich mir geschmacklich mehr erwartet. 3 Sterne
6. Gang:
After-​Eight Dessert: Geschmacksvariation aus Schokolade und Minze. 4 Punkte
Weinauswahl:
Gute Weinkarte, im 0,375 Bereich für mich zu «Frankreich lastig». Weisswein zu warm. 3 — 4 Sterne
Service:
Freundlich, jedoch besteht für ein Haus dieser Kategorie Schulungsbedarf. 3 Sterne
Ambiente:
Sehr schön und stilvoll renoviert. 4 Sterne
Preis /​Leistung:
Passt nicht ganz, ich würde mich freuen, wenn die Küche daran arbeitet.

Meine Frau war an einem Wochentag erstmals im Gütsch. Es waren kaum Gäste da, Service und Küche waren offenbar ausgeruht und arbeitswillig — so kam meine Frau begeistert nach Hause.
Zwei Wochen später sind wir mit Freunden dann wieder hingegangen, an einem Samstag. Es war sehr voll, der Service reichlich überfordert und weder von den Abläufen, noch von der Koordination, noch von der Aufmerksamkeit her auf hohem Niveau. Die Küche war ok, aber da meine Frau ja praktisch das gleiche Menü schon mal in «gut» gegessen hatte, war klar, dass z.B. die «Brioche» nicht wirklich steinhart und zäh sein muss, sondern das ein Ausfall an diesem Abend war! Anderungswünsche beim Menü, andernorts eine Selbstverständlichkeit, sind möglich, man wird aber darauf hingewiesen, dass man dann mit dem Preis mal schauen muss… Unprofessionell!
A propos Preis — für das Gebotene auf jeden Fall zu hoch.
