Two-star food, three-star service and five-star views! People come here to have a good time and to enjoy life at the water’s edge in the charming little community of Saint-Sulpice. If you join them, you’re unlikely to regret your decision. I was at Le Débarcadère for over three hours recently: a large group of us had a fine evening of discussion, drink and eating. Our wines were the Dézaley Chemin de Fer Grand Cru 2012 Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Lavaux(see ) and a Gigondas whose details I cannot recall. The Dézaley was a great pleasure, but the Gigondas was really forgettable, at least in my humble opinion. In order to have appropriate exposure to the two wines, I ordered a rouget-based salad as a starter(see photo) and a braised lamb shank(souris d’agneau) as my main dish. I thought that the salad was pretty successful as a culinary composition. The souris was no great shakes: the meat was dry and tasteless, and the accompanying vegetables(diced zucchini, carrots and other items) had nothing special going for them. Our group ordered lots of desserts, but I refrained from dessert contact. On the other hand, my fellow diners seemed pleased with what came their way; we all left in good spirits.
