I am a huge fan of the concept, most especially. This cosy corner spot boasts small plates, spirits, espresso, delicatessen fare and a decent selection of films on dvd that even the most snooty of film-goers would appreciate. A turn-table stands in the corner of the room and staff change the records accordingly. I can’t recall when Canzoniere first opened. Maybe it was this past Spring? In that time, I have seen them develop the joint into a relaxed and welcoming place for one to come in, chill out, have a snack and/or drink. They’ve somewhat recently added local brew(see photo) to the roster of beverages. The porter, only one I’ve tried yet, is not what one may traditionally consider a porter, but it’s a lovely brew with character and worth a try. Canzoniere, run by creative musician types, also boasts the occasional music evening. One would do well to check this place out. Perhaps, forgo a trip to the Sport Bar, a half a block away, and come here instead?
