Heisse Marroni

When Shakira sings «hips don’t lie» — you really have to see that video to seriously believe those hips really don’t lie. For marroni in Zurich, it’s the same thing when you see the line at the Heisse Marroni in front of the Rennweg stop. That long line doesn’t lie. You know something must be worth waiting for here.
Four stars for kudos to the Italian men manning this Heisse Marroni seasonal stand (in winter). They are constantly scouring through the marronis being cooked, checking if there are any bad or burnt ones. Since there is a high turnover of marroni at this location, you worry less about those little marronis sitting in the heating container too long and being dried out and/​or burnt.
Like many other locations selling marroni, this one also offers a «socially responsible» marroni bag — brown bag split with two sides. One side holds the marroni, the other is for holding the empty shells, so that you are not littering the streets of Zurich. Not every location offers a socially responsible marroni bag, I recall I was shocked at the bag over at the Paradeplatz location when I received a bag without two sides — the shocking controversy!
