McGee’s

We went in for a quick bite (~4.30 PM on a Saturday) and all they had were french fries. They were tasty though and the beer selection was pretty good.

Ein süßes Pub in dem es sich verweilen lässt. Typisches Pub Ambiente, dunkel aber nicht schmuddelig und auch die Bedienung hat die Irische Gemütlichkeit im Blut, genügend Zeit solltest Du daher mitbringen.
Seit neuestem gibt es über Mittag auch Menüs für kleines Geld, was ganz toll ist.
Am schönsten finde ich es nach der Arbeit dort, den Arbeitsstress bei einem kühlen Bier ausklingen zu lassen und die Pubstimmung so richtig genießen zu können. Im Sommer kannst Du auch draußen sitzen und das geschäftige Treiben vor dem Bahnhof Wiedikon beobachten

OK, I basically go there because of convenience and concourse of events. It is not really located in the most common part of town for going out, but well, during weekdays why not.
What can I say about it? That’s one of your classic Irish pub corresponding to what you are likely to expect in Zurich, classical pub food (i.e. various hamburgers, french fries, etc…)., expensive beers, and flat screens all around. Along with the classical Irish pub style. Of course, should the weather be clement, you can stay on the terrace facing Wiedikon station, and despite the fact that it is pretty close to the station /​tram it is not excessively noisy (noise level inside tend to be higher).
Onward to the «tasting», though I did really try any food so to say, I tried some appetizer which tend to be relatively good. Despite the fact that I’m not that much into beer, I gave a chance to some of the beers here (that’s an Irish pub after all) and they are fine to me. And, of course, I took some wine, for which price ranges are more or less standard (nothing incredible) and the wine too. It just feel a bit strange since you’ll be likely the only one drinking red wine in the whole bar but that’s definitely not a problem for me.
I’m not much into watching footballs games, but, you will always end up coming on some day where they will broadcast one by accident. And, well, then it’s noisy but acceptable. The screens are large and well placed and I believe you can easily see from any seats, which seems to me a good thing.
Overall, this can a good Irish pub provided you live in the vicinity, but you may not want bothering going that far otherwise.

My Irish ex told me about this place, so if it’s good enough for an Irishman, I guess it’s good enough for the rest of us. ;)

Not as crowded as other pubs to watch games, but totally packed during pub quiz nights. Run in English by an American woman named Sylvia, the quizzes were pretty wacky and challenging at times, but still fun.
Form groups of 5 to try your luck, prizes go to the best (and worst) teams. If you don’t have a team, they’ll happily match you up with a group. And you can make a reservation to secure a nice table in advance.

Great staff, many flat screens for the occasional rugby or football/​soccer match. (Go Sharks!) The food is decent too, including exotic items like a huge veggie quesadilla plate and Boerewors.

Ein Pub in Zürich bedeutet normalerweise Teures (aber Leckers) Bier, viel Sport und Pub-​Food. Das McGee’s hält sich an diese Spielregeln, positioniert und brilliert sich jedoch ganz klar mit live Gigs und Auftritten. Jeden 2. Sonntag findet eine Open Mic Session statt wie zu alten Zeiten in London und glücklicherweise auch noch heute. Start ist zwischen 7 und 8 pm, und so richtig gut wird die Session ab 9 Uhr.

Pubs? Klar: wenn ich in Irland, Schottland oder England bin dann gibts — ausser in den grösseren Städten — ja nicht sehr viele Alternativen und da gehört so ein Pubbesuch auch durchaus dazu. In Zürich meide ich Pubs aber eher, mir will nicht so ganz in den Kopf, was daran toll sein soll.
Und dann macht am Bahnhof Wiedikon vor etwa zwei Jahren ein neues Pub auf. Da fragte ich mich: Wozu? Und jetzt bin ich doch von Zeit zu Zeit da und das liegt einzig und allein am Fussball. Und am Bier. Und ja, auch an den guten Fritten die es im McGee’s gibt.
Aber hauptsächlich komm ich doch wegen dem Fussball: Hier wird Premier-​League gezeigt. Für die grossen Duelle (also Spiele zwischen den grossen fünf) ist es auch meistens ziemlich voll und gut besucht.
Aber auch sonst tut sich das Pub als Aktivposten hervor. Ob kleinere Konzerte, Open-​Mic oder Traditionen wie Pub-​Quiz — hier ist offenbar ein grosser Wille vorhanden Leben an den Bahnhof Wiedikon zu bringen.
Mir solls recht sein und jetzt wo QPR in der Premier League spielt, werde ich vermutlich noch etwas öfter hin.

Super Bar /​Pub! Tolles & freundliches Personal, gemütliche Einrichtung, super Publikum.
Habe im Irish Pub tolle Champions League Abende verbracht sowie meinen 23en Geburtstag gefeiert. Der «Copi» hat mir und den Gästen einen grandiosen Apero serviert (vorallem die MEGA-​Bowle hat gut reingehauen).
Das Barpersonal spricht grösstenteils Englisch, was das ganze sehr sympathisch abrundet (da man bei jedem Bar-​Besuch wieder ins good-​old english zurück kehrt).

Ein super Irish Pub in der Birmensdorferstrasse. Vor allem die Pub-​Quiznächte und gelegentliche Karaokeparties sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen! Aber Vorsicht, nüchtern geht hier KEINER nach Hause!

Als Fan von ManU geh ich immer gern ins McGees, denn dort hats die Premier League… Eine gute Bier und Whisky-​Auswahl gehört natürlich dazu. Für mich Spitze!
