Restaurant Lola

Small Peruvian restaurant. Food was rather simple and humble like how I felt about the restaurant. Fried yuca was good but very over priced as you get about 10 small pieces for 9 CHF. I felt all the dishes were quite salty. Service should make more attention to guests after the meal was delivered as we needed spoon or wanted to order more drink, the server never came back till the next dish was served.
If you are curious and in the neighborhood, maybe you can try here but I don’t see big reason to make a trip out for this place

War ein paar Mal schon dort. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Preise fuer Zuerich okee. Die Ambiance im Restaurant ist jetzt nicht speziell, wobei ich auch gar nicht weiss, wie in Peru die Restaurants aussehen. Man fuehlt sich ein bisschen, wie in einem grossen Wohnzimmer. Die Einrichtung ist nicht herausragend, aber ich fuehlte mich wohl. Ob das Restaurant auch einen Garten hat weiss ich gar nicht, aber da es in Wiedikon direkt neben der wohl meistbefahrensten Strasse steht, ist man vermutlich sowieso lieber drinnen.
Was aber ziemlich mies war, war die Performance der Kueche und der Bedienung. Man wartet je nach Auslastung des Restaurants lange bis ewig, bis die bestellten Speisen kommen. Bitte nicht falsch verstehen, die Bedienung und alle sind zuvorkommen hoeflich, aber bisweilen machte die ganze Sache einen sehr unkoordinierten Eindruck. Die Kueche ist wohl auch eher etwas unterdimensioniert. Fuer Gruppen ist das Lola leider nicht zu empfehlen. Wenn man aber Zeit mitbringt, dann kann man im Lola sehr gut essen.

Ich kann mich bei Lola nicht wirklich entscheiden zwischen 2 und 3 Sternschen. Ein Arbeitskolleg von mi, der mit eine Peruanerin verheiratet ist, wollte mich unbedingt da bringen.
Das Restaurant befindet sich ausserhalb das Zentrum, bei der Autobahneinfahrt nah Wiedikon. Als ich drin sah viele Gaste mit südamerikanische Aspekt war ich wirklich begeistert… Leider das Essen war nur ok.
Ich hatte Ceviche. Das war das erste mal für mich. Ich kann daher die Authentizität von Peruanisches Essen nicht beurteilen. Die Ceviche war würzig und scharf. War lecker.
Danach hatte ich Jaleo, ein Mix von frittierten Fisch und Tapioka. Das war auch gut. Ich lernte Tapioka kennen… Seitdem kaufe ich es immer wieder!
Nur einige Stunde später ging bei mir nicht mehr so gut. Und ein Tag danach hatte mein Kolleg das gleiche erlebt… Ich bezweifeln an die Frische der Zutaten im Fall. Vor allem bei rohes Fisch man sollte mehr aufpassen.
Ich werde nicht mehr gehen.

The food is very good and feels very authentic at this Peruvian restaurant. I was disappointed by the food served there: The fried rice with pork would have looked the same at any Chinese restaurant. But maybe that’s just all that the Peruvian cuisine has to offer. The decoration is plain; the waiters not overly friendly; all in all very down-​to-​earth, which is after all my perception of Peru. Prices match this experience: CHF 20 for an entrée, so on the lower end for Zurich. Go there for an unpretentious meal with the Peruvian feeling around you.

As I was preparing my peru trip I wanted to try out some peruvian food. And I was hoping to get a bit of a nice peruvian feeling. And it is not in a nice neighborhood, anyway, Zurich is small.
The place is kinda basic. Not really well decorated, kinda old fashion, … I can live with that if the food is great and if the staff is really nice and helpfull.
The staff was really mediocre. There were two guys for the service. But both kinda shy, quite and not very talkative. They were not selling there anything. I asked a few things on the menu, so they the opportunity to explain a bit more and to advice. I was actually hoping to see the Lola lady (the lady from the website).
The food was OK, but not really overwhelming. Half of the stuff on the menu didn’t seem to be authentic to me (hotdogs with french fries writtin in spanish doesn’t make it more peruvian for me).
What I took was good and I think peruvian food :)
I won’t go back…
