Situated in the midst of the food street that is Bugis Junction’s basement, it’s hard to notice the aroma of coffee brewing — but that is through no fault of the wonderful baristas at awesome coffee. As the name says, they serve awesome coffee here, along with delectable portions of pasta and meatballs for those of you looking for a quick meal fix. The coffee is perfect for a mid-day pick-me-up — mellow and smooth, not too strong, with a rather nutty flavour. The baristas have got the temperatures down pat too — the hot coffee was the perfect temperature, just enough to bring out the fragrance of the coffee, without burning your tongue in the process. One of the drinks that I would strongly suggest though, is the Iced Mojito Latte(I think that’s what it’s called…) — a perfect blend of coffee and mint for sunny(and hot) Singapore’s climate! It’s the perfect chilled drink to bring out into the sticky heat — provided you finish it before all the ice melts! All in all, I’d say skip Starbucks, and head into the basement for this. You can thank me for this advice later.

I’m going to pop the cherry for Awesome Coffee since there don’t seem to be any other reviews. If the below looks like it’s going to be a TL;DR situation, here’s the lowdown: Lattes — I’ll take Awesome Coffee over Starbucks. Okay so! I can’t speak for anything except the coffee since that’s all I had time for today, and it is frickin Amazeballs. Perfect milk to coffee ratio, fresh as hell and fragrant too. They have a little sign that tells you what beans they’re using and although I’m often skeptical of Sumatran beans, this one left me with no regrets. Latte wasn’t very hot but I will assume that’s because the barista noticed my severe eyebag situation and realized I needed to chug some caffeine, stat! I like that the coffee cup is sturdy, service is great, menu is entertaining, and they have something really cool — ice cream IN a wafer stick. I do NOT like that their logo is a sticker on the cup(but hey if we support their business, maybe they’ll spring for actual printed cups LOL) Also their menu seems huge, so I’m not sure how good a job will be done for the food items. I’ll be back to find out. Lastly — awesome coffee is in Bugis junction. You can’t fully appreciate the fragrance of the frickin coffee. Also probably why it took me so long to find the damn place. Guys, get a café and Awesome Coffee will be 101% awesome.
