Bar Mut was very good for it’s seafood but super pricy. I had a solo lunch for around 80 $. Also, the service was questionable but it was constantly busy. My favorite was the shrimp which was perfectly cooked and they lit a herb on top to make it super fragrant. It was also so fresh and the head was very tasty. I would love to try their other items.

Our first meal in Barcelona, set the bar very high. We let the staff suprise us with the tapas by plate number 4 I was ready to throw in the towel, however, the beef medallions were mouth watering fantastic. The place is small, so use your concierge from hotel to book, or call yourself. Will not dissapoint unless your in a rush.

*I came here with family and friends* Food: Tied for best meal I’ve eaten abroad ever. The chef was incredibly creative with each dish. The egg carpaccio is one of the coolest and most fulfilling dishes I’ve ever eaten(I can still remember it many months later). I even requested the name of the cheese that they used in the spinach salad. Atmosphere: Cozy and intimate. It’s a small venue and walls are lined with wine bottles. Highlight: The cow cheek or egg carpaccio. To this day, I haven’t had anything remotely similar or any tapas that are close to as delicious. That being said, I ate everything. Even food I didn’t like(for example, mushrooms). Would I Return: Definitely

Absolutely loved this restaurant! This was our first stop in Barcelona. Stumbled upon this little gem as we were walking around. Our waiter was amazing. We told him this was our first meal in Barcelona and he chose the meals for us. It was all excellent! So, so yum. A bit pricey but we’re in Barcelona! What. Great restaurant!

Don’t let the name fool you, this place is no dog. Visited for lunch and surprised there were only a few guests yet every table had a reservat sign and they had a book. Before I left they were full. This place is small. A tapas bar actually centered around the bar. Fresh seafood is the star here. A bit quirky that they have no menu. The server says he is the menu and asks what would you like? I ask the obvious question what do you have? After a bit of back and forth between broken English and Spanish I arrive at an order for a shrimp starter followed by tuna tataki. The two head on shrimp were quite incredible. Seemed like poached in a butter based herb infused sauce. So tender and perfectly cooked dare I say the best ever. The tuna was not a favorite for me. Four large cubes seared and covered with something that looks like Rice Krispies, the unsweetened version. It was a bit heavy and salty without enough contrasting flavor. Wasabi sauce was lacking. Many other choices to be had here if you have time for the Q&A menu game. The fresh fish looked very fresh… although they glared at me through the glass the entire time especially while eating the tuna.

Like many, this was a recommendation from a friend. We hit it up on our second day in Barcelona and it did not disappoint. Two noteworthy experiences: the service and the egg carpaccio. Only every other photo on Unilocal for this place is this stupidly delicious dish. It was a no brainer. It’s also what they’re known for. I won’t let the salad with melted cheese at the BOTTOM go unmentioned though. The staff was delightful and was happy to recite us their menu in English. We even ordered the steak and foie gras but had to cancel it after the egg yolk dish because we were stuffed. mostly on wine, which was liquid happiness.

You need to go here! I was recommended by a colleague to check this place out during my two week vacation in Spain. I didn’t do any research and was not expecting much. Boy was I surprised. My bf and I lucked out as we did not have a reservation but snagged a seat(if you’re reading this make a reservation). For the service, we were greeted by an middle aged man who seated us and helped us choose a fantastic wine from the Catalonia region at a reasonable prices(el pics, 20 €). Next the waiter himself was a walking menu, navigating my shellfish allergy with what our likes and dislikes. For starters we got the sea bass ceviche. This had the perfect amount of citrus. The fish was delicately cut and it practically melted in your mouth. Next was the egg carpaccio. I can’t explain it, but it reminded me of a breakfast hash. Just get it, you won’t be disappointed. Next was the suckling pig. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned. But really to top off an already perfect meal was the real star. Their frozen yogurt. It was a caprese salad but in dessert form. Frozen Greek yogurt, tomato jam and basil olive oil. A savory dessert for sure, but with it being perfectly executed to have a tangy yogurt with a naturally sweet tomato, your mind will be blown. WHATAREYOUWAITINGFOR?

I am writing this review as I finish up my dinner here at Bar Mut and I must say that even with the 5 star reviews, this place exceeded my expectations. I have been exploring all of Europe and trying all sorts of highly recommended restaurants and I can say without a doubt that the service here exceeds everywhere else in Spain or in Europe in general. The food was amazing(of course, that’s the most important part), but the service is what really takes everything to another level. The servers will help you pick the perfect menu item(s) for you based on your tastes and their favorites and let me tell you, you will not leave disappointed. If you are in Barcelona, check out Bar Mut! It’s in the middle of all the great shopping :)

Very good tapas and interesting, fresh dishes, but quite expensive. Definitely worth it and not as touristy as other places. The value of the drinks is good, and dishes are of a high standard. What can make it expensive is the fresh seafood by the gram. Was easy enough to get a seat about 9:30 in a Thursday.

What a lovely little bar. The atmosphere of an old Irish pub and the food is absolutely amazing. We ordered goose liver tacos that blew me away. The four stars is because not everything that we ordered was amazing but some of the dishes were just good. Great experience I would go back any day.

This place is a taste of heaven! Every dish was well balanced and the flavorers were absolutely amazing. We had five dishes… The egg carpaccio, steak and foie, muscles, spinach salad, tuna and two desserts. Let me tell every bite was an experience. The service is great! Trust me when I visit Barcelona again this place will be one I revisit :-)

Huge thanks to my friend who recommended this place to me a while back. And I’m so glad I thought of going here on this night. This was a strange experience, but good nonetheless. My friend & I were starved, and wanted something nice for his last night in Barcelona. Though we didn’t have reservations, and the place was packed, the staff made accommodations for us — we could stay from 9:30 to 10:15 because they needed that table for a reservation arriving at 10:15. We were thankful that they made room for us. Although we didn’t get to try too many things, we did get a couple of some of their best dishes, and shared a bottle of wine. The egg carpaccio was phenomenal(I love egg… you can never go wrong by serving me egg), and a fish tempura dish — I don’t remember the fish. Both were cooked to perfection, the wine was divine… our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer, try more food, and cap it off with dessert. I will definitely return(special occasion, of course, as it’s not cheap — but also — it’s not *that* expensive). The décor was wonderful, too. A great use of space in such a tiny location.

Small just off the beaten track… and delicious! We came in just as their lunch kitchen was finishing up(at 4pm) and had a wonderful meal. There isn’t a menu so to speak as much as there are daily /weekly dishes they serve up. From the 4 tapas items we had, they could do no wrong. There’s a good mix of locals and visitors in their small venue, and the music and ambiance were perfect for an afternoon lunch. Definitely would go again. Great people, great food, and great service.

When I was in Barcelona, after a long day morning of shopping, we dropped by this small bar for a bit of energy. Lovely tasty seafood. A glass of wine. What more does one need to rejuvenate? In fact, I ate at Bar Mut three times over that week. Two lunches and a dinner. Servers were all up on the freshest seafood and best preparations. I particularly love cephlapods(not fried), which, they accommodated beautifully.

Even with all the hype this place delivered and then some. Ordered the steak with foie, egg carpaccio, and octopus and each one of them was incredible. The octopus was without question the best I’ve ever had and sadly the best I will ever have because there is no way it can be made better without the assistance of wizardry. Seriously it was that good. Four stars because the place is small and cramped, but at the same time quite expensive. Other than that, it was an amazing experience.

Loved this place. Were wandering around in the Eixample district trying to find a half decent place open for dinner on the 26th December(also a holiday in Spain), when we stumbled upon this place. The host was gracious enough to squeeze a seating for two even though we were walk-ins(another big no-no in Barcelona if not at touristy places). The meal was beyond brilliant. They didn’t give us a menu but we had a brilliant waitress who was exemplary in explaining the dishes and helping us decide, in impeccable English. We had some Galician scallops done in the shell with olive oil, sea salt and parsley/basil. It was so good, we were sopping up the juices with their bread after. We ordered a plate of grilled in-season vegetables. Usually, I wouldnt write about vegetables, but boy oh boy. The flavors, and some local greens that I didn’t recognize and the cooking in their Josper over made this one of the standout dishes. Our waitress also suggested a traditional Catalan holiday soup, Escudella de Nadal. It was a lovely delicate broth, pasta and meatballs, accompanied by blood sausage, chickpeas, potatoes, cabbage, and pork chitlins on the side to create your own taste. Every single accompanying piece was yummy on its own, but the end product was brilliant. Something we would have never usually ordered given its extremely traditional status and the fact that is usually served only around Christmas. Kudos to our waitress. We followed this with the best dish of the night. A piece of flounder-like fish, that was grilled on top of vegetables with sea salt. The incredible technique and freshness/quality of the fish, had me licking my chops long after we devoured it. Highly recommended. The food here was overall great, but they really seem to do seafood very well. For dessert we had the highly recommended(from two of the servers) «French toast» even though it sounded odd. However, it was a Spanish style piece of delectable fried airy sweet bread on a pool of dulce de leche with a scoop of the most amazing smoked ice-cream I have ever had. This place could be classified as an upscale Tapas bar(they sure are not cheap), but this is imaginative, modern tapas that you won’t find in your typical tourist traps on Las Ramblas. There is a lot of authentic food from Catalan and other areas of Spain with a touch of modernism and originality. They also have a good wine list, and we were very happy with our bottle of the 2013 Els Pics from the Priorat region of Catalonia, with its prominent Grenache makeup with some blend of Cariñena, Syrah and Cabernet. I would return here without a doubt. This was our best meal in Spain and given the quality of the food, very reasonable as well(as frou-frou dining in Barcelona can quickly drain your budget/wallet).

Food here is so over the top that I’m thinking it may have been one of the best dinners I’ve ever had. First of all let’s talk about the spinach salad. Fresh, tasty, simple salad with spinach and fig right? Wait a second, it comes on top of melted goat cheese. SO. Glorious. Octopus, egg carpaccio and foie gras-topped filet mignon are amazing as all the other reviews said. I ordered the spinach salad full sized and the other 3 dishes half sized and it was probably too much for 1 person but I ate everything and still asked for dessert. However they needed to clear the table so I was kind of kicked out lol but service was amazing otherwise(offered by extremely sexy waiters) and nothing can ever trump the food here.
