Andábamos con el mono de italiano y buscábamos un lugar auténtico (donde no hagan solo pasta y pizzas) y dimos con el rey loco.
De entrada el nombre no es muy italiano y el local es bastante sencillito pero la cocina lo compensa con creces, pues es original y casera.
El dueño es un siciliano que lleva un año en barcelona y ha montado este restaurante con tipos de plato que quieren escapar de la imagen clásica que tenemos de la cocina italiana y acercarse más a una cocina más auténtica.
Una cosa muy buena es que tienen menús de noches o fin de semana por 13,50 euros, que facilita que acudan grupos, cumpleañeros, etc.
En definitiva, un restaurante recomendable, pero pensad que no es ni una tagliatella ni un restaurante italiano chic al uso

Everyone on Unilocal says «x was the best meal I had in barcelona.» They all go to pinoxto and shit like that. They all are sheep wannabe aristocrats who all name their fucking sons Aidan and their daughters Madison. No matter what you name your kid or where you eat as a self proclaiming foodie piece of elitist, you are a sheep. El Rey is the real deal. They make soulful Italian tapas. Aroncini, fogetaboutit. Eggplant croquettes, holy shit. The gnocchi, blew my mind! Such great texture. Panna cota, come on. We had 3 bottles of wine and ate all this stuff and it came out to 80 euros. Try doing this in Nice or at those stupid barceloneta bars. This is real food son, made with heart. If you can’t appreciate this, get back on the plane and go eat some bobby flay shit.
